The former First Lady of Turks and Caicos (yes, she was a first lady) appears to be very unhappy with how she has been perceived in the media. Thus, the world will be treated to an entire season of confirmations (or denials) about some of the finer and lower points in her life. Here are some things that you might learn from the show debuting on April 8th:
1. She's got a sister in the Joint. Many people still don't realize that rap star Da Brat (Brat-a-tat-tat...) is LisaRaye's half-sibling. If you happen to follow urban gossip, then you'll know that the rapper ended up in the clink for popping some lady over the head in an Atlanta nightclub with a rum bottle in 2007.
2. The former First Lady also wants to prove that she's more than a "Diamond." Don't feel badly if you're a little bit fuzzy on this obscure pop-culture reference. It has been over a decade since LisaRaye starred in a major motion picture; her last notable movie role was in 1998's "The Players Club", portraying a stripper named Diamond. Certainly, she's had other movie roles since then. She's even starred on a UPN sitcom. This is perhaps another item that she would like to clear up on her upcoming reality show.
3. LisaRaye is not a gangsta gold digger. No Sirree Bob. She's got her own paper, and is not afraid to let the world know. Don't let those nasty tabloids about her ugly divorce fool you. Things may have gotten a little sticky out there in that tropical palatial mansion. But let's get the record straight; she has always dated "generous" men. And she is fighting mad about the way she has been portrayed throughout this whole messy ordeal.
4 .LisaRaye will have you know that she is not a "hoochie." In fact, she is a dedicated mother and businesswoman-with plenty to say about current events. But it probably should be noted that some may be more interested in her 20-page spread in Black Men magazine than her particular views on world issues. And if you've got something to say about said scantily-clad pictorials - then you've probably been sipping on a fresh cup of Haterade. She is in her 40s after all. Repeat: she is not a hoochie. (Blank stare.)
5. For all intents and purposes "LisaRaye: The Real McCoy" appears to be very much like "The Real Housewives" without the other housewives. LisaRaye even has her own sweet stylist to help her stay dipped in Robertson Boulevard's finest. Yes, this lady is "mixing" with some influential people---and making things happen. The list of fascinating revelations probably goes on and on... Will the world's interest be piqued enough to tune into TV One on April 8th? We shall see...
