List of the 7 Most Embarrassing Beauty and Health Problems, with Solutions

Robert Lewis
No matter how beautiful you are, everyone on the planet has something about their body that they would like to change; too fat, too short, thin skin, wide feet, long legs, spider veins, bad hair, long toenails, flaky hair, etc. And that's completely natural and understandable, and primarily genetic.

But there are other, more common health problems that are embarrassing to be afflicted with. Ever brush your teeth and tongue super hard before a date only to find that an hour later your breath smells bad? Ever look in the mirror at work and realize you have a big, dark, hair uni-brow? Ever have a pimple right on the edge of your nose that you prayed would go away before the next school day?

Of course you have. Something embarrassing has afflicted each and every one of us, but just because we've suffered from embarrassing health problems in the past doesn't mean we have to put up with them forever.

What follows is a list of the seven most embarrassing health conditions and their respective solutions.

Bad Breath

Bad breath is something everyone has suffered from at least once in their lives, whether they know it or not. Brushing your teeth regularly helps mask bad breath, but it won't get rid of it, as bad breath lies in the tongue and throat. The good news, though, is that you can beat bad breath with over-the-counter medications. Keeping hydrated with lots of water throughout the day will neutralize bad breath, and using oral rinse products twice a day will kill bacteria that cause bad breath. Many mouthwash brands have alcohol that can kill bad breath germs too, so those are worth a try too. If you're really in a jam and are desperate for a quick fix (a meeting in 2 minutes, a date, having friends over), chew a stick or two of gum; it's always worked for me.

Sweating

Sweating, like hair growth, is largely hereditary. Your armpits, chest, back, legs, neck, and other body parts can sweat when the temperature rises, and is embarrassing in public situations; especially when you sweat so much that it seeps through your clothing. The first thing you should try is buying a stronger deodorant/antiperspirant. Solid is usually stronger than liquid, so give one of them a try. If that doesn't help, talk to your doctor about getting Botox, yes, Botox. It helps neutralize sweat glands for up to a year.

Finally, a good excuse to get Botox!

Stretch Marks

Weight fluctuations can cause stretch marks on many places on your body. When skin is stretched, it becomes thinner and blood circulating through it becomes visible. It is unsightly and highly embarrassing, especially in intimate situations, but there are options to hide them. There are plenty of over-the-counter medications that can be applied daily to reduce the sight of stretch marks, but if you're looking for something better you can talk to your doctor about laser therapy. It's expensive, but it drastically reduces the brightness of stretch marks and leaves your body looking more natural.

Unibrow/Excess Facial Hair

Hair on your upper lip (if you're a woman) or hair between the eyebrows can be embarrassing and unsightly, and is a problem for a lot of people. If you have an excess of facial hair, there's probably not much you can do to prevent itâ'¬"hair growth is genetic. But don't fret, you do have some options.

You can pluck your hair with a pair of tweezers (like I do from time to time) or shave it with a razor, but be careful not to cut yourself. If you're fanatic about your hair, there's a new prescription drug called Vaniqa that has been proven by the FDA to limit moderate to heavy hair growth by blocking hair-growth enzymes. It's expensive and requires a visit to your doctor or dermatologist, but it might save you from painful hair-plucking every few weeks. You can learn more about Vaniqa by visiting http://www.vaniqa.com/faqs

Oily Face/Pimples

If you have an oily face or suffer from pimples, a daily face wash is the safest and most effective way to cleanse yourself. An oily face can look shiny and bright, and can be highly embarrassing at school, work, or even around the house. Adding to that, face wash is very affordable, and widely available at most any grocery store or drug store. I have sensitive skin, so I use an oil-free solution that cleanses my face, gets rid of zits, and strips all the oil from my face. My face looks clear and natural every morning, and I'm confident going out the door that my face will look clear and not shiny. If a face wash doesn't work, you can talk to your doctor about a prescription face wash that may be the cure you're looking for.

Bumps/Warts

Bumps or warts can appear anywhere on your body, but most commonly they affect the hand. I get small skin bumps on my hand too, but they're not noticeable by sight and I only realize I have one when a finger happens to run across it. I simply cut them off with nail clippers or with my fingernail.

But if you have something bigger, like a wart, it will take more than a fingernail to get rid of it. You'll have to scrape the top layer of the wart off with a nail file and then apply an over-the-counter acidic solution. Do this daily and your warts should disappear. If they don't, or reappear over a period of several months, visit your doctor or dermatologist for additional treatment.

Odor of the Feet

Whether you're at home, a dinner party, or at work, foot odor can be a majorly embarrassing medical problem. Foot odor is caused primarily by moisture, so keeping your feet dry with good quality absorbent socks can oftentimes be the only step needed to solve your problem. If not, try using over-the-counter foot odor remedies such as Dr. Scholls medicated pads to counteract the problem. If you still aren't experiencing relief, you may have a fungal or bacterial problem that will require a visit to the doctor.
