There are a few options you can try for the prizes. Something like lotion or bubble bath always goes over well in a crowd of women. A nice scented candle always makes an easy gift too. The best prizes I have seen are ones that actually go to the mom to be. They can be little rattles, a pack of wash cloths, a little onesie, anything small like that.
For the first game you'll need about 8 jars of baby food, a permanent marker, 8 spoons, plates and pencil and paper for all of your guests. Take the labels off the jars and label them with the numbers 1 through 8. Label the corresponding jars with their matching numbers. Pass the jars around one by one and have each person put a glob on their plate. They'll need to taste each one and record what they think the food tastes like. This game is hilarious because some of the foods taste down right nasty. You'll also be surprised to see who knows their baby food. I had a friend at mine that knew every single one down to the apple and turkey combo one because her daughter refused to eat her food unless mom took a real bite first.
Another fun game involves guessing what baby names are for the adult animals. All you'll need are plenty of copies of the quiz and pencils for all the guests. Before the shower generate a list of adult animal names and draw up blanks beside them for the guests to fill in the baby name. Some examples with answers are: Fox and Kit, Goose and Gosling, Horse and Foal, Shark and Pup, Alligator and Hatchling, Bear and Cub, Bird and Chick, Deer and Fawn, Koala and Joey, Owl and Owlet. If you wanted to make things a little easier you could generate the answers in a scrambled up list and have them match the answers.
This next one isn't really a game but it's still a fun one to have everyone participate in. You'll need a few permanent markers and a diaper for all the guests. Hand out the diapers ahead of time and tell the guests they'll need to write a message to mom on the diaper for her to read during a late night changing. Some people will write hilarious things and some will write really thoughtful messages. Either way they're a great read to have. I couldn't use mine on my daughter and ended up saving them all and pulling them out for a read every once and a while.
For this next game you'll need a spool of yarn and some scissors. Pass the yarn around and have each person cut off the amount of yarn they think it will take to go around mom to be's belly. Then, have mom go around and see who wraps around the closest. It is great to see how big and little people think your belly is.
Another good game that just involves enough copies for the guests and pencils is easy to put together. Again, before the shower, generate a list of product names and have the guests guess which item it is. You could even make another scrambled answer list and make it a matching game like the baby name game above. Some examples with answers are: Desitin and Diaper Rash Cream, Huggies and Diapers, Gerber and Baby Food, Nuk and Pacifiers, Graco and Car Seats, etc.
Just remember to have fun with the games and generate ones that your guests are going to enjoy. It's always fun to make up your own too!
