Camping Regulations and Restrictions in Lake Mead, Nevada
For those who want to go camping, the Lake Mead campgrounds are primarily located at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. All these campgrounds provide campers with the basic facilities they need including restrooms, running water, dump stations, grills, tables and shades. There are also spaces allotted for RVs, trailers and tents. These campgrounds are open all year-round with 30-day camping limits.
Boulder Beach Campground
Located at the Boulder Basin area, the Boulder Beach Campground has a total of 154 campsites. Also called the Boulder Basin NPS campground, it is 2 miles away from the Lake Mead Marina. The area offers fresh water, tent sites, toilets and RV spaces with hookups (electric, water, and sewage).
Park concessions also offer RV sites with full hookups (electric, water and sewage). It is best to make a reservation with a park concessioner ahead of time for this service.
Callville Bay Campground
Located at the Boulder Basin area, the Callville Bay Campground has a total of 80 campsites. It fronts a small bay ringed by mountains, along with a privately run RV park offering five spaces with full hookups (electric, water, and sewage) available for rent. Meanwhile, the campground is operated and maintained by the National Park Service (NPS) and its sites are available for tents, trailers, and RVs as well.
The campground provides campers with a comfort station, restrooms, drinking water, dump stations, grills, hiking trails, picnic tables and shades and trash bins.
Las Vegas Bay Campground
Located at the Boulder Basin area, the Las Vegas Bay Campground has a total of 89 campsites. It is near the old Las Vegas Marina and it has an easy access to the Bluffs Trail. It is also a walking distance to the fishing pier.
The Las Vegas Bay Campground provides campers with two comfort stations, restrooms, hose bibs, handicapped sites and trash bins.
Echo Bay Campground
Located at the Overton Arm area, the Echo Bay Campground has a total of 166 campsites. The sheltered cove of Echo Bay is named after the high walls of the mountains ringing on this part of the lake. This location is also close to a marina, making it an ideal spot for boaters, anglers, swimmers and other water sports enthusiasts.
Aside from the basic facilities including toilets, running water, dump stations, and trash bins, the NPS campground has scattered grills and picnic tables available for public use. There are campsites available for tents, trailers and RVs as well. There are additional RV sites with full hookups (electrical, water, and sewage) provided by a park concession operator. Many of the campsites are also handicap-accessible.
Temple Bar Campground
Located at the East Lake Mead area, the Temple Bar Campground has a total of 153 campsites. The Temple Bar Marina features additional recreation areas for campers. The campground is a short walk from the lake which makes it an ideal campground for those who also want to go fishing, boating, and swimming.
The Temple Bar Campground has a limited number of tent and RV sites with full hookups (electric, water and sewage). Concessioners also offer additional RV sites with full hookups. The campground provides campers with a sanitation station, comfort stations, hose bibs, trash bins and an ampitheater for events.
