List My Five - 5 Days and 5 Lists

List My Five '" New Online Writing Site

Carly Wyatt
There has been much buzz in online content writing circles about List My 5, a new online content writing platform that allows members to publish lists of 5 items in a theme. Much of the excitement though, seems not to surround the sites actual merits, but its similarity to another online content writing site upon which the List My 5 model appears to be based - eHow.

Until April of this year, eHow ran a highly lucrative Writers Compensation Plan, where many online content writers made good monthly residual income from their "How To" articles. Many still lament the loss of the Writers Compensation Plan and migration of content generation for the eHow site to Demand Studios. Of course, many are also delighted with the new eHow arrangement.

How Does List MY Five Work?

List My 5 is a new site, without a Google Page rank, so without promotion your lists are doomed to oblivion once they disappear from the "Recent Lists" section of the List My 5 home page. Of course there is a "Featured Lists" and "Today's Featured List" section on the List My 5 Home page, which I would have to imagine, is lucrative to those who make the cut. So far, I have not been one of them.

Like publishing on the old eHow platform, List My Five allows writers to add links in a resources section, which are DoFollow links. The publishing platform itself is easy to use and certainly less buggy than my very limited experience with the eHow platform.

Lists are relatively easy to write, especially when re-using research from articles published on other content sites, and publishing only takes a few minutes.

List My 5 Earnings

As with any new site, there is no guarantee of earnings success, or even payment. The payment threshold for a payout is a relatively low $10 and amounts rollover each month until the threshold is met. Payments are made to PayPal accounts so you will need one of those, and to receive payment, you need to sign up for the Writers Compensation Plan, which will require you to provide tax details.

If you do not sign up for the Writers Compensation Plan by the end of the month, you forfeit any earnings to List My 5. The following month your earnings reset to zero, and you have until the end of that month to join the Writers Compensation Plan and claim that month's earnings.

With the relative ease of joining and publishing on the site, it may be worth investing some of your time on this site. From my early experience though, I wouldn't expect too much in the earnings department...

I have published 5 lists in 5 days. My earnings? A whopping two pennies. (Update! 7 Days, 7 Lists and 11 cents) The title of the lists that have earned a penny each is probably indicative of the type of traffic the site is currently seeing:

Others appear to be having move success. Granted their lists are being promoted via the writer's web sites or blogs. Of course, earnings should increase over time, and with a flood of writers generating content on the basis that they could be getting in on the ground floor of an eHow type deal, the future for the site looks promising.

Have you joined List My Five? How are your lists faring?

I just signed up and have saved a few ideas for lists but haven't published any yet. I like it because it is so similar to ehow and very easy to jump into...not much of a learning curve to deal with.
