List of Prepackaged Raw Diets for Your Dog: Part 2

bb42
So here we go with part 2 of our prepackaged raw diets for your dog. I forgot to mention in my first article to make sure and follow feeding instructions strictly on the packaging because after all, you are handling raw meat. Use the same precaution as if you were preparing it for yourself. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water along all the items that have touched the raw meat (bowl, utensils, etc). It should also list on the back of the packaging, how long the raw meat can be refrigerated in case your dog doesn't eat all of it. It's usually a day or two at most. Raw meat is only best for dogs when it is it's freshest state. Again one of the reasons I like the nuggets versus the patties because my dog does not eat the same amount every day. Anyway, on to the list!

Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance RAW Dog Food

If you've been familiar with dog food for a long time, you'll know that the actor Dick Van Patten has been selling his own line of pet foods for awhile now (since 1989 to be exact). Due to consumer demand, he has now added a raw diet to his pet line much to the delight of many dog owners. They currently come in beef and chicken and you can choose from 2 lb., 4 lb., or even 10 lb. bags. They are extremely reasonably priced. I currently have a 10 lb. bag of beef in my freezer. It's a favorite of my eldest dog. I bought this bag at Petco (great to see a major pet store carrying a raw diet). Only certain stores carry this brand. Unfortunately they are only available in southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii and Michigan but I'm sure they will expand if they see a positive response. Click below to find out the ingredients and if it's at a store near you!

Nature's Variety

Nature's Variety caters to both dogs and cats here. You can usually find a small store that carries this brand. It's fairly well known. It's slightly more expensive then Natural Balance but you have more choices. They carry chicken with turkey, beef, lamb, venison, rabbit and believe it or not, organic chicken (everything is organic with this mix including the vegetables). They come in 3 lb. (medallions) and 6 lb. (patties) bags. They also carry a freeze dried diet for anyone who's traveling with their animal. It's very convenient but these are more expensive.

Raw Advantage

Raw Advantage carries dinners, recipes, formulas along with treats and snacks. Everything is certified organ except the duck. They carry chicken, turkey, beef, vegetarian, etc. Snacks include bones and chicken along with turkey necks. A select number of states only carry this product so you might choose to purchase this online.

Northwest Naturals

Northwest Naturals come in sizes of 1 lb., 6 lb., or an extremely large size of 25 lbs.! That's the biggest I've seen yet. Flavors are beef, bison, chicken, chicken w/salmon, turkey, dinner nuggets (for cats), dinners bars and treats. If you have a retailer near you, you can get coupons for their products. Go to their website to find out more information.
