About Air 1

What is Air1 and what are they all about? Air1, the Positive Alternative is a user-sponsored contemporary Christian radio station with a national fan base.

The Air1 Mission Statement is:

To effectively communicate the Gospel message to those who do not know or fully understand it, through full-time contemporary Christian music and short educational elements over radio, the Internet and other select targeted media - using modern day language and the highest professional standards.

This is a mission statement they take very seriously. The founders of Air1 noticed back in the 80's that Christian radio was geared mainly toward the older people and those that already had an established relationship with God. This inspired them to create a radio station geared toward younger people that would educate them about God's love and inspire them to put God's teachings to practice in their every day lives.

In 1986, KLRD, known as K-LORD began broadcasting Christian music in Yucaipa, California. This new radio station had a primary mission to use popular Christian music to introduce listeners to God's love. In 1995, K-LORD teamed up with sister station, KXRD to form what would be a famous national Christian radio network.

Air1 began broadcasting over the internet in 1996, when streaming audio was still in its early stages, making them the first Christian radio network to broadcast on the Internet. In 1999, Air 1 and K-LOVE Radio join forces as EMF Broadcasting and continue spreading the news about God's love and Christian hit music to people around the world which they still do today.
