There are several outlets to listen to songs. You can purchase a CD or even a vinyl record or a tape if that floats your boat. You can also purchase songs and albums on iTunes. Many people don't want to spend their hard earned cash on songs; they just want to listen to music and drown out the pain and sorrow from their life or enjoy their happiness.
There are legal ways to listen to music of your choosing online for free. A popular choice is YouTube. Yes YouTube is known for it's videos, however most artists have made music videos. Even if they haven't made a music video, often times they have performed live and had it recorded. People also make image videos showing the artist or band with the song playing. All you need to do is go to YouTube.com and type in the artist and song. You will likely get several versions of the song including live performances and music videos.
Another way to listen to music for free is through PureVolume.com. Artists often even make songs available for download via MP3 format. This can allow you to permanently have the song and burn it to a CD or put in your MP3 player. Yet another way to listen to music for free is through MySpace. Artists and bands usually create a profile which has a few of their songs stream on their site. Again sometimes you can also download these songs via MP3 format. Myspace recently launched a new portion of their site that allows you to create your own playlist and listen to other people's playlist. They pretty much have every song available on this service.
So the only question left is as to what songs you want to add to your playlist or listen to online. Well if you heard something on the radio you like or grew up with songs you like this is always very helpful. Knowing the genre of the music always helps too. This way you can search around for popular songs from that genre. You can find lists of top songs from the decade, era, and genre. Another way to become exposure to new music is to ask friends and family what they like. They can often give recommendations. If you are still stuck on ideas another way to figure out music and what artists you like is to listen to the radio stations on cable networks such as Comcast.
