Listening to the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player

I like to jog every morning, and I like to take my music with me. After using a cheap little portable radio for a few years, I decided I was tired of listening to the same old lame D.J. patter from every radio station I was listening to. I decided to get an MP3 Player. I found the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player online at Amazon.com for under $30.00.

I had borrowed an Apple iPod Shuffle form a friend at work, and the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player sort of reminded me of that. Not so much in looks, but in function. The Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player resembles a pebble, and in fact you can wear it around your neck like a pendant.

To load the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player all you need to do it plug it into your computer via the included USB cable, and drag and drop audio files into the player interface

Like the iPod Shuffle, there is no screen on the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player. My wife looked at it and decided she wants one with a screen. I am not that particular, so I just put my playlist on shuffle, and get surprised with the music that plays. I like not knowing what song is going to play next.

The sound quality of the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player is actually not bad for such a small player. I found it to be comparable to the iPod Shuffle I had borrowed. It has a Smart Button which when pressed gives you DNSe (Digital Nature Sound Engine) which greatly enhances the base and sound quality overall.

I am not a very big fan of ear buds, because I just don't like things pressing into my ears. The ear buds that come with the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player though, are reasonably comfortable, and the Pebble design of the player even has a flap that plugs into what the manual refers to as a "earphone fixing hole" You insert this flap into the hole, and it actually does a pretty good job of keeping the earphones plugged in.
If I were to use a standard earphone set with the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player, I would lose this option. Since I have accidentally unplugged the other MP3 players I had tries, this really helps.

One complaint is that it is not compatible with iTunes. Oh well, you can't have everything,

The Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player has one interesting if useless (at least in my opinion) feature. There is an LED at the bottom of the player, which blinks on and based on the playback mode you choose.

For a relatively inexpensive MP3 Player, the Samsung YP-S2 MP3 Player is really not bad at all.
