Littering - Who is Doing It?

Do You Litter or Know Someone that Litters?

People without Parental figures. That is how littering began and continues.

Those of us who have had a good relationship with our parents have received the life coaching necessary to understand our impact on the rest of the world. Littering is an obvious disregard for the world around you. If you litter you just don't care that you are making it worse. You just don't see the value in leaving the world a better place. You just don't care that you affect other people. To take something that you are going to discard and to throw it on the ground anywhere is a tragedy. We are facing a crisis in the future if we don't clean up our act. Our environment is facing challenges it has never been up against. Man has not only taken over the planet but we intend to completely destroy it.

Littering in most places is a crime. It should be. Unfortunately not enough people care about stopping others from littering. You should report those who ruin our environment. If you look in almost any public place these days you will immediately find a form of litter. It has ruined most of our major landmarks, we find it on the side of the street, in our lakes and ponds, in our national forests, on the beaches of our coast lines, everywhere you may go for sanctuary you will find an aluminum can, plastic chip bag, or cigarette butt. We respond to someone littering by doing nothing.

My suggestion is that the next time you see someone throwing something on the ground that belongs in the trash that you open your mouth and tell them it's wrong. This is important for our children's and grand children's future as we are physically smothering the earth with our debris. It might seem like such a small action to do something about pollution by starting with the litterers. If we aren't willing to address small things how will we ever conquer the big ones?

I have to deduct that parental figures were either missing or uncaring of their children and those children grew up not caring that they affect the world around them. If you litter... I ask you to stop right now. I ask you to start caring about the world because it is our only home. Do it for the kids. The kids deserve a great future that is clean and healthy. They deserve the same kind of environment you deserved when you were a kid.

I challenge you to do even more. I challenge you to take one small stretch of road or walk path that you love and to commit to keeping it clean. You be the one who goes out every week with a plastic bag and latex gloves and cleans it up. At least this is one way you can physically change your own little part of the world for the better. Nothing will ever change without our citizens taking small actions towards a better future.

    Hi..

We have designed and Patented a brand new approach to cigarette and chewing gum litter control. We have just won a pan European Red Dot product Design Award 2008 and our Smartstreets-Smartbin has now been adopted by over 35 Councils across Europe.

If you are interested to see what we are doing and find out why our approach is working extremely well in cities across Europe please visit www.smartstreets.eu and www.smartstreets.co.uk

Our litter bins are made from recycled aluminium and stainless steel and reduce clutter by wrapping around existing street furniture such as lamp-posts and sign-posts (as well as fixing onto walls and railings) - making it a sustainable solution to a very messy, damaging litter problem.

We hope to be appearing in a city near you soon .. and that cigarette and gum litter will be reduced as a result to everyone's benefit.

Thank you for your interest - from all at Smartstreets Ltd, London, UK +44 (0)20 8742 3223 sales@smartstreets.co.uk

Responsibility should *always* begin with the parents. It's where we get our outlook on life, who we develop our attitudes from, and generally the people who shape us as a person when it makes the most difference. Great article.
