I read about a little 7-year-old boy who decided to devote his time and talents to helping a family that lost everything in a fire recently.
Bradley Thomas has earned a yellow belt in Taekwondo and is required to do a Taekwondo community service project. He chose to help the Moody family who is now living in a motel after a fire completely wiped out their belongings and destroyed their home.
Every day since the beginning of October, little Bradley has been fundraising and spending all of his spare time helping to collect money for the displaced family who did not have housing insurance. Bradley said, "I just want them to have a nice Christmas."
Bradley's parents have said that they were surprised by their son's actions but proud of his tender heart. I would take it much further and tell the parents that whatever they did to instill that within their son also needs to be recognized.
While the world spins out of control and too many people are concerned with their own little corner of the world, a 7-year-old teaches us that there is nothing more important than taking care of your neighbor.
Matthew 22:39, "Love your neighbor as yourself."
Today, as you hustle and bustle through the day, be reminded of Bradley Thomas and his gift of love for his neighbor. The holidays are approaching and for many who are suffering or heavy-burdened, sometimes just knowing that someone else cares can make all the difference.
Pause and look around you and then, lend a little love.
If you want to help Bradley, his father, Dewayne Thomas can be reached at dewayne_1980@hotmail.com.
