Little Girl so Long Ago

Becca Spencer

Little girl, so long ago
With many hopes and dreams
Woven into your existence

Who were you then
Who did you become
Was happiness your companion

Little eyes, full of wonder
Tentative smile and tiny feet
Standing on the brink of life

How many tears spilt from those eyes
How many stones bruised those feet
As you tread life's pathway

Was your stay here brief
Or did those eyes grow weak
Your steps halting with age

We will never know your journey
Your image frozen upon this glass
Little girl, so long ago

What a precious poem! It is so sad when I go to auctions and see the photos from long ago that the family has no clue who is in them. Heirlooms no longer treasured. I need to take heed and label pictures with the names and how they are related to me. My boys will have no clue who is in them.
