You may not realize it, but just like a real king you can tax your subjects. Send in any character other than a Carefree Adult or Child to collect your tax. You'll always get a monetary reward, but occasionally your loyal subjects will also give you a gift so be sure to tax every house at least once.
Once you marry a Princess, be sure to read her letter in the Suggestion Box. Each of the seven Princesses will give you a book to fill up with records of completing certain tasks for her. Some are fairly easy like Spumoni's Gastronomic Tour which has you picking up the food dropped by monsters, while others are rather tedious such as Kokomo's desire to hear 30 different hummed tunes. All of them come with a special reward that can be sold for thousands of Bol, so they're all worth trying.
There are three secret classes in the game that can only be unlocked through special methods. Here is how you get them -
Build houses in the Magical Land and near the end of the game, a Carefree Adult will tell you of rumors of a Wizard appearing there. Visit the area at Midnight and you can find and recruit the Wizard. In battle, he will transform enemies into wood or stone, allowing carpenters and miners to kill them easily. He only has 20 spells per outing though, so use his skills wisely.
Once you develop a Royal City District, you can build a Royal School that will transform Carefree Children into Carefree Adults. During the course of the game, the school committee will ask for seven donations. After the last donation, a Doctor will graduate from the school and set up a hospital in Glamour Town where you can recruit him. He will administer anesthetic that stuns enemies and makes them easier to kill. He has 30 doses for each outing.
As soon as you unlock the Merchant class, you will find them coming to visit your throne room on occasion. Buy every item that they offer (which you'll want to do anyway since they are very helpful) as well as sending in the payments Verde and Liam request. Eventually you'll be able to buy the Rare Armour which will come to life after you've conquered six other kingdoms. Recruit it as the Steel Knight, the single strongest fighting unit in the game.
