Little Known Things to Do & See While at Disneyland Resort

DisneyMom
Have you been to Disneyland before? Do you think you have done and seen everything? Do you doubt there is anything new left to experience? Well, it's time to open your eyes and ears go on a tour with me. Let's start on Main Street, USA shall we? About halfway up, look at the second story windows on your right. If you pay attention you will be able to hear someone getting their tooth extracted, a child being taught how to play a piano, someone gargling, and a little further down, a detective snoring (here's a hint: you can hear this one near the detective window). While you are still on Main Street stop by the Market House Shop and find the old-fashioned telephones. If you pick up one of the phones you can listen to a 1890's party line conversation. Whoops, did you just trip on the curb and skin your knee? In that case head over to the first aid station for a free Disney bandaid and some free medicine.

Next head on over to the area that has all the (ride) wait list times. Ask for a special button to celebrate whatever you are celebrating. Disneyland will give you a free buttons to celebrate your birthday, anniversary, just married, 1st visit, and for being an honorary citizen. Some days they may also have princess and pirate pins as well. If you don't want to stop at this area you can also pick up the pins at City Hall or Guest Relations out in the Esplanade.

Now lets head over to Tomorrowland. Take a good look at all the plants and vegetation. Have you figured it out yet? Yes, that's right. Each and every plant in Tomorrowland is edible! Now I'm not suggesting you have lunch here but it is a pretty neat fact.

Next we visit Fantasyland. Stop by Snow White's wishing well and you will hear Snow White singing "I'm Wishing". Now walk on over to Snow White's Scary Adventure and look up at the window. You will see a window with the curtains closed. Every few minutes the curtains part and you will spot the Evil Queen. And yes, she is glaring at you! Now look between Peter Pan's entrance and exit. Look at the second story window and listen. You should be able to hear Wendy and Peter Pan discussing their trip to Neverland. Now look toward the ground in Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Keep looking and you will soon find a giant compass marking in the cement . Now look below the "S" marker. This is the exact spot where the 40th Anniversary "time castle" is buried. Since you have been looking downward now look for a brass spike near the entrance to Sleeping Beauty's Castle. This represents the exact center of Disneyland (well, it did back in 1955).

Let's head over to New Orlean's Square. Walk thru the areas where all the stores are. When you get near the estate jewelry store you should be able to hear a voodoo ceremony above the shop. As you get close to the Blue Bayou listen for a woman telling her birds not to sing the Tiki Bird song. Next on our stop is the New Orlean's Square Train Station. While you wait for the train listen to the telegraph. The clicking you hear is Walt Disney's opening day address for Disneyland Park back in 1955. Now get on the train and ride around the entire Park. The entire circuit takes twenty minutes and you will get to see inside of Splash Mountain, the area behind Princess Fantasy Faire, and the Grand Canyon & Primeval World Diorama's.

If you want to see some more off the beaten path stuff head on over to the Disneyland Hotel and watch the Koi fish being fed, or enjoy the musical waters at Fantasia Waters. Or visit the Grand Californian Hotel and relax in the lobby for a while. You might be able to get in on a tour of the hotel, hear a story, or more.

No matter how many times you visit Disneyland there is always more to see. Just remember to open your eyes, open your ears, and let your imagination guide you.
