Little League World Series 2009 Chula Vista Game One for the Books

In the 2009 Little League World Series's Chula Vista's game one was for the ages. Chula Vista and Warner Robins played in the semi-final bracket of the United States 2009 Little League World Series, with both teams hoping for a chance to play in the U.S. Final and hopefully make it to the championship game. It started out much like a lot of other Little League games, with the teams feeling each other out, but when the last pitch of the game was thrown, fans of both sides had to try and recover from the frayed nerves that an 11-10 Little League World Series game can cause.

Chula Vista is the team representing the Western United States, with Warner Robins representing the Southeast. Chula Vista is from California, while Warner Robins is from Georgia, and the two teams probably never would have met if it weren't for their successes taking them deep into Game 28 at the 2009 Little League World Series. Until the bottom of the third inning, it really seemed like a pitchers duel was going to be the way that this game would progress, but Chula Vista was able to score five runs in order to take a commanding lead. It was commanding until Warner Robins came up in the fourth inning, and put a whopping nine runs on the board to show they weren't going to go away quietly.

Making it to double-digits typically clinches a Little League World Series game, but this was no ordinary game, and the Chula Vista offense was able to score two runs of their own in the fourth inning, and then they added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game at 10 runs apiece. It set up quite a finish heading into the last inning of the game, and Chula Vista was able to hold Warner Robins scoreless, leading to the possibility that extra innings could be in their future. When Bradley Roberto started off the inning with a hit for Chula Vista, things appeared to be cooking, and he made his way to third a couple of batters later. On a wild pitch, Roberto was able to score the winning run, bringing to an end a simply great match-up of two wonderful Little League teams.

Now Chula Vista will move on to play for the United States Championship game on Sunday, facing the Southwest champions from San Antonio, California. Both teams have the potential to put up huge numbers, and this could be another great game along the way. The United States Championship game is scheduled to start at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 29th, and should not be missed by any fans of Little League baseball. This is going to be an epic match-up that will decide who plays for the overall Little League World Series title on Sunday, August 30th against the International Champion.
