Greene Hill School began in the fall of 2009. It was the brainstorm of Fort Green and Clinton Hill parents, educators and friends, who wanted a progressive school with small class sizes.

One of these progressive activities is gardening. The children have been taking care of plots in the Jane Bailey Memorial Garden. Not only is the school progressive with activities like gardening, it has progressed in size. What began with eight children ages 4 to 5 has grown to 60 families with children ages 3 to 8.

Now, the school needs larger accommodations, so it is moving to Adelphi Street where the little sprouts will have their very own garden.

Tuition for Greene Hill School is based upon a family's financial circumstances and runs from Tier 1, which is free to $4,500, to Tier 5, which is $15,000 for the 2010/2011 school year.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit.  View profile
