Cheryl Engelke
Guys and Gals, it's time to boot-scoot and rock-abilly your way through the summer concerts of 2009. I've got the best Country Music out there lined up so you only have one place to look. Right Here! I'll show you where to heat up the dance floor, where to sit back and soak up some tunes, and where to cool off with a cold one in the North Houston area. So clear your calenders; it's time to play!

Big Venues

Dinner and a Show

For those who want to have fabulous meal with your entertainment.

Dosey Doe's Coffee House-The name name is so much more than it implies. The building is a 150 year old barn from Kentucky that they had taken apart , shipped and rebuilt right there in the Woodlands. This place is awesome. The whole place has an old honky-tonk feel with a touch of class. Live music fills the dining hall 3-4 nights a week including open mic nights. The food is all cooked from scratch. They feature gourmet Texas Style Cuisine. They grind and roast all of their own coffee at the coffee bar (move over Starbuck's) and have a full bar to boot. Definately a place that deserves a go. Since they have live music all of the time, I picked out a few of the bigger names coming up, but keep in mind, they have live music almost every night.

May 28 Ray Wylie Hubbard $48/40

Jun 4 Stoney Larue $20/15

Dance Halls- if you want to do a little two steppin'

Big Texas Saloon Located in Spring, TX, Big Texas is a honky-tonk on steroids. It features a great dance floor, pool tables, multiple bars, and great live music. And don't forget the drink specials. Just like Dosey Doe's, Big Texas has weekly live music and hand picked a few.

May 15 Jason Boland and the Stragglers with the Josh Ward band $10 over 21, $15 for 18-20

May 29 Jack Ingram $15 over 21, $20 for 18-20

Jun 19 Cory Morrow (prices not listed)

Jun 26 Roger Creager (prices not listed)

Free Concerts Now who doesn't like FREE!! The first Thursday of every month, Conroe hosts a free concert in Heritage Park. I took my daughter to see a show there a few years back. It started to rain. The band took everyone under the pavilion they were set up on and gave us an acoustic show. It was an awesome time.

Jun 4 Johnny Bush/Jesse Dayton

Jul 2 Joe Ely/The Sideshow Tramps

Other Great Places for Live Entertainment

Tut's of Conroe- Conroe's Landmark Ice House

Papa's On the Lake-Boat, Ski, Drive, or Hog in to Papa's

Hope y'all enjoy the shows! Be sure to tip your waitresses and bartenders and if you've had any at all, take a cab or find alternate transportation.

Well, I guess you would have to be a really big fan then. Some people drive states away to follow a band....just depends on the person. :)

    Seems like a long drive...
