'Live to Dance': Four Dance it Out for Semifinals - Kendall Glover Moves on and Three Await Your Votes
Most of the Dancers Seen in the Premiere Moved on Except Four Who Get a Second Chance
These were the ones with backstories and whose routine we saw either briefly or in its completion. This is the same old, same old process done on other reality competition shows. I mean they're not going to spend time on someone who isn't a serious contender. There was one, maybe two, we did not see on Tuesday night. That's also a typical ploy of reality TV. There were, however, four acts the judges couldn't make their minds up on and wanted to give them a second chance. Off they went to be the bearer of good and not so good news.
Announcing the news to the semifinalists
Paula was off to Miami to give the obvious good news to dancers Twitch and the kid ballroom couple D'Angelo and Amanda. That was a no brainer, It was obvious they were in the semifinals from the get-go. Andrew, the host, got to visit Bev and Hap with good news, the awesome older couple, who live over the hill from LA in the San Fernando Valley. Kimberly Wyatt visited Chicago to inform the Chi-Town Finest Breakers they're in.
The rest were informed via Skype they've made it to the semifinals. Then there were the four remaining dancers whose fate is still undecided. Each of the judges and the host made in-person visits to explain about the dance-off. Two dancers will go through and two will not. One will be selected by the judges. The other will be decided by votes from the viewers either from phone, text or online.
Four Dance-Off for Two Spots
Some of the four acts were seen prominently on the premiere show of "Live to Dance" such as Kendall Glover and In the Box. The latter dance group used cartoon music in their first routine. The other acts that were not showcased were Theatrix, a dance group inspired from movie music and a married couple performing classical ballet, White Tree Fine Art. I was thrilled to see someone performing ballet as it is the basis of dance, which I agree with Kimberly Wyatt's statement.
All four dancers were brought to the Dance Dome in LA for a special performance the viewers would later vote on. My favorites were by far White Tree Fine Art and Inside the Box. White Tree was absolutely stunning to watch. It was dance unlike all the others. I felt Theatrix is too gimmicky and would be better suited on "America's Got Talent" who are looking for acts rather than the best talent.
Who's moving on and who awaits the votes?
The judges immediately picked their choice who was Kendall Glover. That's not too surprising since she had the longest time on camera with Paula who came to her school. Also, I have a feeling they want someone under 18 to win. That leaves Inside the Box, Theatrix and White Tree Fine Art to vote for. It would be ashame not to include ballet dancers when it states they accept all styles of dance. Most people think of ballet when you mention dance. I mean they have all the other popular styles represented: hip hop, contemporary, tap and ballroom. Excluding ballet is certainly not fair. Here is a list of the 17 semifinalists we will see the following week. Till next time on "Live to Dance".
