'Live to Dance': More Semifinals with D'Angelo and Amanda and White Tree Fine Art Already in Finals

Wunderkind Ballroom Dancers, D'Angelo and Amanda, Are in the Finals While the Judge's Choice was Ballet

How frustrating to have two of my favorite shows scheduled at the same time. I opted to watch "Live to Dance" as the other one was a tad slow in its first hour. Immediately we learned who was going through from last week's viewer's choice. It was none other than the wunderkind ballroom dancers, D'Angelo and Amanda. Six more dance acts performed for a slot in the finals as a Judge's choice or to be voted through by the viewers next week.

1.) Jalen

Up first was 9-year old Jalen. He opened the premiere show as the first dance act on "Live to Dance" some weeks back. He was adorable and entertaining. However, he has very stiff competition ahead of him. The judges all loved Jalen by awarding him three gold stars.

2.) Dance in Flight

This middle-aged couple's mix of the hustle from the 1970s and balletic moves made for a strange mix. It was certainly a different style of partner dancing. It's really unfortunate they had that stumble at the end. Travis didn't get their performance and gave them a red star while the others complimented them.

3.) Twitch

Here was this contemporary dance troupe that took the audition show by storm. I must confess I preferred their last dance over this one Wednesday night. Nevertheless, the male lead dancer is still able to steal the spotlight from all the rest. The judges still love Twitch by giving them gold stars. More than likely they will be the judge's choice or the viewer's choice, one of the two.

4.) Du-Shant Stegall

An impressive 16-yr. old danced a hip hop routine that was brilliant at the beginning. Once he took off his shirt the suspenders fell down dangling throughout the rest of his routine. I was so afraid he would literally get caught up in them. Du-Shant seemed to be preoccupied with them at times. None of the judges were lauding with his performance. They felt he needs to incorporate other dance moves in the future. He was the only dancer to receive all red stars.

5.) Dax and Sarah

It was uncertain if this couple was going to perform during the live show. Dax had hurt his back during rehearsals. Thankfully he was feeling better, but their routine seemed safe and slow-paced for a Lindy hop. I had to agree with Travis' comment he disliked their music choice. The song was too slow, too dated and too obscure. Naturally Travis gave them a red star while Paula and Kimberly felt they deserved gold ones.

6.) White Tree Fine Art

My favorite dancers of the entire evening gave a superb performance orchestrating aerial feats, contemporary dance and of course, ballet. They are the epitome of top notch dancers that make it look so easy and effortless. You'd almost think they were professional dancers.

It is very obvious Travis Payne did not want them in this competition in the first place. He actually awarded them a red star, which was utter nonsense. It is more of a personal vendetta for him. Of course the crowd chanted for Travis to change his vote, which he didn't. Thankfully Paula and Kimberly gave Travis a piece of their mind. They gave the couple gold stars.

When Paula Abdul stated the judge's choice was not unanimous I had a feeling it would be White Tree Fine Art and it was. Of course I was absolutely thrilled. They truly had the best performance of the night. When the host was mentioning White Tree Fine Art was in the finals they had the camera on Travis Payne.

He sat back in his chair with his head back like he was frustrated they were the judge's choice. Then he noticed the camera was right on him. He had a big smile on his face like he meant that as a joke. Next week will be the last of the semifinals. My guess who is moving on to the finals from the viewer's votes is none other than Twitch.
