Live Free or Die Vows Tax Dodger

That's the motto of New Hampshire and the motto of its new anti-taxation hero. Mr. Edward Brown who was convicted of tax evasion and awaiting sentencing has barricaded himself in his home and says he will not pay. Per the Fox News Channel telephone interview this morning with Mr. Brown, he is armed with one of the guns the law enforcement authorities missed.

Mr. Brown mentioned that the whole situation started in 1996 when he and his wife Elaine realized that the President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, was paying fewer taxes on more income than Mr. Brown and wife were paying. The Browns decided at that time to stop paying taxes.

If I am not mistaken, President Clinton itemized his used underwear for charitable donation during that time period. Anyone anal enough to donate and itemize used underwear as a charitable donation for tax purposes probably had a few other deductions.

After ten years of not paying taxes and eight years of not filing income tax returns, the IRS noted a few abnormalities. During that period over two hundred thousand dollars worth of money orders were used by the Brown's to make purchases and payments. All of the money orders were under the ten thousand dollar limit where financial institutions are required to report the fund transfers.

In the interview, Mr. Brown stated confidently that the law was own his side and that all will end well. Unfortunately, Mr. Brown is reported to have stated that, "If the Feds storm the house, all hell will break lose." Statements like this are normally consider inflammatory by federal agents. Luckily for Mr. Brown United States Marshals, not the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are responsible for his apprehension if required following sentencing in the case. The ATF sense of humor is worse than that of the IRS as proven during an incident in Waco, Texas.

Mr. Brown's wife Elaine, a co-defendant, in the tax case was in Massachusetts and not available for comment. Considering the current situation at her home that is probably a good thing.

Recently, actor Wesley Snipes was involved in a similar tax situation. Not barricading himself in his home, but failing to pay taxes for several years. Mr. Snipes is resolving his issues with the IRS without treats of violence. Mr. Snipe's situation resulted when he read a book stating that income taxes were unconstitutional and believed he the book.

While Edward Brown may have read the same fiction, his reference to the President of the United States' lower tax bracket indicates a more serious resolve. Sentencing is the case is scheduled for tomorrow so stay tuned.
