Live with Intention

Living Life on Purpose

Live With Intention

In this world there are very few things that we can not make any more of; we can't make anymore land: we can drain swamps, divert rivers and empty lakes and ponds, and create jetties but the land that's exposed is still the same land that was there to begin with. We didn't "make" any more, we just provided better access to it; and we can't make anymore time. We often try to cram more activities into the time that we have or prioritize the activities, or stay awake longer or work longer hours and "give up" a weekend for the job. But throughout it all, we haven't created one more additional second.

If we measure our success by the amount of "things" we have, people we know, people who know us, places we've been to, then sooner or later we will reach a point where that doesn't seem to matter as much. If, however, we measure our success by the quality (and quantity) of time we invest in those things that matter most, we will leave a legacy of our lives that will show purpose, direction, drive, devotion and all the other buzz words that mean success.

So how do we accomplish this feat? It's not easy, but it will certainly be worthwhile. The key is to live life, with purpose...on purpose! Don't be content with allowing life and the things of life to overwhelm you and drive or direct your paths. Take control of what you do, what you think, how you speak and how you act/react to everything and everyone around you. If you do, that old excuse of "that person makes me so angry..." won't work anymore because, "...He who angers you controls you..." No one can "MAKE" you anything. You have to allow them to impact you.

The old excuses of "I can't ...." and the seven words of failure "that's the way we've always done it..." loses their power over you when you replace "I can't..." with "I'll try..." Perhaps this has been tried before and failed. Yester ended last night...that was "before" and this is now.

Essentially if you are willing to live your life on purpose, with purpose and for a purpose you are living your life with Intention. As the poem says:

"Live with intention." That's easy to say,
but perhaps not as easy to do.
"Walk to the edge," the boldness and courage
will always depend upon you.

"Listen hard to discussion, instruction, directions";
a common sense practice you know.
"Practice wellness and laughter, and play with abandon";
and you'll have a healthier glow.

"Regret not your choices", enjoy what you have;
for all that is yours you have earned.
"Appreciate family, remember friends fondly,
and always continue to learn."

"Do what you love; do what you want,"
never forgetting to trust.
Do what's expected; do it while smiling-
but remember to do what you must.

For what good is growing and living our lives
if we do it with great apprehension?
Life is too short to live without purpose,
so make sure you live with intention.
