We are all taken back by a world full of branding, and are actually being fooled more often then realized. For example, there could be two cans of vegetables sitting side by side in the supermarket. One could be the supermarket brand and the other, a well known brand being advertised on television every day. Clearly, the advertised brand of food is going to cost more money, so the company can pay for their advertisements. There can be a difference of 70 cents between two cans of food that taste exactly the same. Therefore, getting past the branding can considerably help your wallet out big time.
Coupon cutting isn't the most fun chore in the world if you haven't cared about saving money up until now, but those pieces of mail that you've been calling junk can actually save you a lot of money. The best way to get the coupons that are going to help you the most, is to go to the website of whichever stores you shop in and sign up to get their weekly savings. While it will be great to receive coupons on a weekly basis, just keep up the strength to use the coupon for something you already needed, rather than buying something you hadn't already planned for, just because you found a coupon.
Gas money can definitely cause a large burnt hole in your pocket while driving your commute back and forth five days a week. Filling your gas taken with a regular grade of gas versus super or supreme will save quite a few dollars a week. The differences between the three gas grades are very unnoticeable and not worth the extra $5.00-$10.00 you're spending a week. Another great way to help save on gas is by carpooling with a co-worker who lives in your area. This would cut down on gas expenses from five days of driving back and forth, to two or three. This could save you almost a half tank of gas and you're being eco friendly at the same time.
One of the biggest money eaters of all time is that daily trip to your local coffee shop. The average person who makes that stop on the way to work every morning spends between $2.00 and $5.00 a day. That's between $22.00 - $110.00 dollars a month. Instead of spending all that extra money, brew a pot of coffee in the morning and put it in your travel mug. You'll have your coffee sooner, and you'll feel at ease knowing that you won't get to work and find out that your order got messed up.
Lastly, the biggest chunk of money that people lose is caused by going out to eat. While, the motion of going out to eat is a whole lot easier then getting the pots and pans out of every night, you're not only paying for someone else to take out pots and pans for you, but you're also paying nearly three times the amount for the food your eating. If you're a busy person, and don't always have thirty minutes to make a meal when you get home from work, make a couple of big meals during the week and enjoy the leftovers for the other couple of nights. It can be a hard transition if you're used to going out to eat a few nights a week, but once you start to see the money you're saving on a weekly or monthly basis, you won't mind the change in scenery nearly as much.
When there's a will, there's a way. Saving money can really be an easy task and it doesn't have to be a life changing experience. These simple money saving tips can go unnoticeable and save you tons of money every month. I doubt anyone would complain about having an extra few hundred dollars at the end of the month to put toward something that makes you feel happier then brand named food, expensive gas, pricey coffee, and eating triple priced food.
