Living Forever- a Humorous Poem

Living Forever

robritt
Living forever.

Who wants to live forever?
A woman just celebrated
her 118th birthday
they gave her a big cake,
but she can't hear,
see can't see
she sleeps all the time
What fun would it to be?

To be 118 years old
not know where you are,
who you are, no friends alive.
I don't want to live forever.
I want to grow old and
get it over with, not just strive.

I'm looking forward
to the transition because
I'm not sure what I'll be
I may come back as,
as a Coors beer can
I'll be happy I'm sure you'll see.

Cause they keep recycling
Now that would be my idea of fun.
to come back over and over again.
I could go on hunting trips,
see shows in Vegas, the city of sin.

I could go deep sea fishing
having a grand day in the sun
Now that is my idea
of how to live forever
For I'd really never be done.

Great poem. Funny but true, who wants to live so long that they don't know what's what.

So funny and so true!! I agree!!! My father loves his Irish proverbs and his favorite is "May You Live As Long As You Want and Never Want As Long As YOu Live."

My husband's nephew's mother-in-law just died a month short of her 100th birthday. But she didn't know it.
I'm like my husband's 90-year-old sister--I don't want to live to be 100 either, unless I have at least a little bit of my mind left (seems a lot of it's already gone) and be able to take care of myself.
