In the late nineteenth century bicycle mania began, and the trend or fad never went away. Modified many times and more than a century later, bicycles are the favorite gift for most kids. Many adults ride bikes for exercise, but what about for transportation? If you live in an area convenient to shopping, groceries, pharmaceuticals, etc. and provides safe passageway for bicycle transportation, take the two wheeler. Accompany the kids to school or to the grocery store via bicycle.
If distances are longer and you don't feel comfortable on a bicycle, use an adult three wheeler. We have all seen the "little old ladies" out for a ride or running errands on the three wheeler with their cute personalized flags. It is exercise and saves $$$. Some may feel more comfortable on a scooter. It uses gas, but not much.
Another alternative to the "gas guzzler", the golf cart, is quickly gaining in popularity. Requires a battery charge now and then, but it is great for short trips around the neighborhood. Many beach property owners say golf carts are their "number one choice of transportation".
We can help promote our "Living Green" programs by walking more. If you are parking in a safe, well lit parking area with security on site, do not use the valet parking service. Bus service is an alternative to driving, and bus companies are working diligently to modernize local service and provide security.
Nothing compares to walking for health and saving fuel costs. It is certainly healthy, and you will save on gas money. When the car is the only reasonable method of transportation, bundle your stops into one trip.
Whether your pace is bicycles, walking, carts or scooters, "Living Green" is what you can do to help your country. People Power - Stay Green and Healthy.
