If you are thinking of moving to the New York tri-state area, Huntington Long Island is a great pace to live. It takes about an hour to commute to mid-town Manhattan. There are beaches, golf, culture, great shopping and a vibrant, yet quaint down town. Settled in 1653, the Town of Huntington is filled with historical sites.

Huntington Village

Huntington Village is the hub of the Huntington, Long Island area. It offers quaint shops, fantastic restaurants, night life and much more. If you want something to do, you will always find an activity here.

Walt Whitman Mall

Only a few minutes from anywhere in Huntington Township, the Walt Whitman Mall offers fabulous shopping. Here you'll find Macy's , Lord and Taylor, Sach's, Bloomingdales many more.

Local Activities

The Cinema Arts Centre is a great movie theater which shows cultural, independent and foreign films. You'll find more information at www.cinemaartscentre.org.

Of course there are our beaches. The Town of Huntington has several local beaches. All of them are open to any town resident. You will need to purchase a parking sticker for a small fee annually. You can check the Town website at town.huntington.ny.us.

If boating is something you enjoy, you will find many marinas in Huntington Township. Many houses have deeded beach and mooring rights, so you may have automatic access to a mooring for your boat.

Getting to Manhattan via the Long Island Rail Road

You will find several towns within Huntington Township. Some of these include Centerport, South Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor. The real estate values are as varied as the activities in Huntington Township. You should be able to purchase a starter house in the mid to upper $300,000s, but you can easily spend multi-millions. The average prices for a house in the area are probably from $500,000 - $800,000. The waterfront property is spectacular, but quite expensive.

If you are looking for a rental, prices for a two bedroom apartment usually start at around $1400 per month. You can easily spend more. If you want to rent a house, you may find a small one for $1800 per month plus utilities or so.
