Living Light

Gazing out over the evening skyline
Clarified by the illumination of the lights
More is seen when you stare intensely
Fully absorbed by more than visual sight
Each light a shimmering representation
Of the valuable, expendable existence of life
Where there is light, people can be found
Living harmonious or in contentious strife
As all the lights dance and twinkle together
Individual lives overlap and intertwine
Life perpetually dispelling darkness
Bringing hope and enlightening minds
Evidence of survival doesn't fully disclose
Quality of life beyond endurance
The struggles, pain, angst or woes
Are unseen nor is there assurance
Of fulfillment or peace of mind
A general feeling of contentment
Hunger and poverty undetected
Unseen struggles building resentment
Each light reflecting its own story
Amassed of highpoints as well as low
You never really know another's troubles
Unless invited in or they allow them to show
Millions of lives burning together
Individually while synchronized in time
Cast a glorious radiance beaming
