In Oakland, New Jersey there are two food markets. They are Shoprite, and Zeytina, both located on Ramapo Valley Rd. the town's main road. There are several gas stations along Ramapo Valley Rd. as well. There is a Burger King, a KFC, a Taco Bell, a Walgreens and several banks including The Bank Of America and Chase Manhattan. All of these are located on Ramapo Valley Rd. as well. As far as restaurants go there is Portobellos which is a very nice restaurant and a very high expensive upscale place and there is the Oakland Diner which is more like your typical diner. There is also a few other restaurants here as well.
In Oakland, New Jersey, there are two bars, the Elm Street bar and grill and Hansils. Both of these bars are small places that resemble your typical New Jersey small bar. They are good places to go and hang out with your friends, but nothing more really.
There is a great school system, a high school called Indian Hills High school, which just had a major expansion done to it and has about 700 students. The school is one of the better schools in the county. There is a middle school called Valley Middle School and three elementary schools. Which elementary school your child goes to depends on which part of town they live in. The elementary schools are named Manito,Dogwood and Heights.
Houses range from about $150,000 to over a million depending on where you want to live and your income. The Ramapo River runs through the town and there is a lake called Oakland Lake you can boat and fish on. There is a recreation field where the kids play football and baseball through out the year, it is one of the best features of the town and you can come here with your family and play sports and hang out.
In conclusion, Oakland is a nice place to live, and these are just the very basics of the town, I have listed here. Oakland, New Jersey is a great town and if you are thinking of moving here, I would definitely recommend that you do. I lived there all my life until I moved to New York City and still miss it to this day.

Post a CommentI have been in Oakland for 18 years now. Moved from New York city after I got married and can't wait to get the hell out of here. Based on my experience, Oakland, I consider it a "backwoods" town, ideologically, socially and economically with an overwhelming lack of diversity and tremendous fear of any kind of change.
