While homemade dog food recipes are a dime a dozen, it's hard to find proof showing a dog thriving on homemade meals for years.

www.doggiechef.net shares photos, video and information about an 11-year-old dog who has eaten homemade meals for more than seven years. The site also explains how easy it is to be a Doggie Chef.

After the 2007 pet food recalls , an increasing number of dog owners realized they couldn't be sure what was in the dry kibble and canned products they fed their beloved pets each day. Feeling betrayed by the commercial pet food industry, and spurred on by the green, organic and whole foods movements; many pet owners decided to make their own dog food.

Yet even some of the most sensible and capable dog owners were stricken with panic when it came to actually preparing and serving their dogs homemade food. Years of propaganda spread by a profit-driven commercial pet food industry convinced even the most intelligent pet owners they were incapable of properly feeding their dogs.

A number of books and websites exist providing dog owners with a variety of step-by-step recipes, from dog treats to everyday meals. However, most of these contain only recipes and nutrition guides with no case studies or photos showing dogs thriving on homemade food for several years.

Taking charge of your dog's diet is a serious responsibility. Dog owners who take on this responsibility want to see proof that their efforts to make homemade dog food will help, and not harm, their pets. They want to see photos and videos showing a healthy, happy home-fed dog --- a dog who has eaten homemade dog food for many years. They want to know it's possible for anyone to create nutritious, tasty meals that will enhance a dog's health. And they want to learn how someone does that every day.

www.doggiechef.net shows how healthy a home-fed dog can be and how easy it is to be a Doggie Chef. Started in June, 2008, the blog contains weekly posts chronicling the progress of a now 11-year-old home-fed dog. Photos and video clips show the dog at rest and play. Numerous photos show exactly what the dog eats at mealtime.

The site also addresses challenges faced by dog owners who want to become Doggie Chefs. Challenges such as providing enough dietary calcium, the correct calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, and essential fats for canine health. Other posts on www.doggiechef.net address grooming and health maintenance and review books about homemade dog food and canine health and well-being.
