Living with stereotypes doesn't affect everyone the same as the next person. A stereotype can be an ordeal in itself but if a person doesn't have a support system dealing with negatives can be even worse. There are more stereotypes in the world than can be counted, depending on what region a person lives in can have stereotypes. Such as cultures, taboos, and economic standards to just name a few all have stereotypes attached to them.
The key to living with a stereotype starts from within. A person that has to deal with a stereotype or stereotypes needs to have at least one person that understands from experience to confide in and look to for guidance. A person with experiences with a stereotype will be able to empathize and assist in the coping of the negative feelings than a person that has been lucky enough to not have to deal with such an ordeal.
In our economic standings now a days there are more and more individuals and families needing government assistance. Living with the stereotypes of having to go to a local office to get the help a family so desperately needs can be heart wrenching. One of the most misconceptions and stereotypes of these individuals is, they are too lazy to get a job and are living of the hard working members of society paying their taxes. To deal with this stereotype would be to ignore the ignorance. Most stereotypes are just that ignorance and the fact that someone else doesn't understand. They do not understand because they have been fortunate in their lives not to had to stand in their local government office putting every detail of their lives in front of someone else to get what they need such food for their children. Ignorance such as this has been the reason children in our own country go hungry. Their parents are too embarrassed to do what needs to be done.
Another unfortunate state that has stereotypes is being overweight or obese. Stereotypes for being overweight are, they eat too much, they are lazy, and they are unclean just to name a few. No one considers genetics, disorders, illnesses or to eat healthy costs money but that is an entirely other topic. If a person is doing everything they can to be healthy and lose the weight they need to, the person doesn't need the ignorance of others breaking them down to the point they just give up.
Self confidence is a must for anyone that has to live their lives with stereotypes. We all know that self confidence is scarce in people who have to deal ridiculous stereotypes from ignorant individuals that believe they are better in some way or another. A stereotyped person needs a good support system to counteract these self centered jerks. So if you know someone who is burdened in this way please encourage them and help them, they will be so grateful. Your encouragement may be what is needed to get them out of the situations they have found themselves.
