A few months back I learned that I have Type Two Diabetes. I had to prepare myself for a new life with a lot of different changes all for the good. I decided to make a list of the things you will look forward to or that I have been through so far.

1. Depression

This occurred shortly after hearing that I am a diabetic knowing the task ahead if very hard and all the risk that go with being a diabetic. This can be over come with a lot of well power and the suppot from friends & family. Also knowledge once you know more about what you are dealing with the better prepared you are at tackling this and living a long healthy life.

2. Confusion

This for me was one of the hardest things I had to over come such as, What can I eat? How much can I eat? Will this hurt me? What do I have to do? How do I use this blood meter? How do I know what a safe blood sugar level is? How many pills do I take? Have I took my pills for today? Again most my questions where answered by either trial and error or by asking my doctor and people that actually have diabetes. Once the confusion is over then you can really get on with your life.

3. Healthy Eating

I highly recommend you get with a nutritionist or some one who can help you with this. With me I just lowered my intake of a lot of sugars and salts and started with a low car diet and watched what I ate and how much I ate and when I ate. From there I started getting more and more healthy. For me my diabetes was on set due to my weight which I am still working on loosing but days get better as time fly's by. Oh and some thing I learned the hard way you can not cut all your sugars and salts out of your diet that just isn't healthy for you. You just have to find a equal balance on foods.

4. Exercise

I found that walking is the best thing for me as far as helping with my sugar levels and lowering my stress in my life and helping me loose weight. Set goals for your self and go for them. I started walking five or ten minutes a night and slowly increased my walks to a half hour or more. There are hundreds of ways to exercise just find out what works for you.

5. Living Life

I have found that I can live a productive life even with diabetes it's just about watching my levels and what I eat and how much exercise I get on a daily basis. That combined with the proper medications I have found that nothing has changed accept the fact that I am more healthy now being diabetic then I was before I had diabetes. I am not saying being a diabetic is healthy but it has helped inspire me to make changes in my life for the better.

6. Warning Signs

This is the scariest part about becoming a Diabetic. For my my Warning Signs are usually loss of vision or cold chills along with being tired and dizzy. Once you learn your warning signs you can almost guess how high or how low your blood sugar is at that given time. I am always around 10 or 20 points from my original guess when I take m blood sugar levels. This helps so much being a diabetic and living a life without worrying to death what will happen to me. I guess the best thing is always stay prepared! Have some thing that has sugar always at hand such as a Orange Juice that does not need refrigerated or some sweet candy to hold you off tell you can get some thing in you. Like I said this can be very scary at first but rest assure you will get thru this stage and get to know your body better then anyone else.

7. Medicine

Now for some good news! We live in the time and age where we have access to many kinds of medicine that can help you live a better life with diabetes for me I take Metaformin & Glyburide to control my blood sugar levels during the day. They have worked wonders for me! Best advice is to consult your doctor and let him prescribe you what he think will help you.

8. True or False?

Do all Diabetics have to take insulin shots? No This is totally your doctors choice if he think it's best he will put you on it. Do you have to poke your finger with a needle every day? For me I do, But the process is not painful as it sounds and after a few months your finger gets to the point where it just don't hurt no more. Can you live a full life with Diabetes? Yes you can. Is it true Type Two Diabetes can disappear if you get healthy? Yes the chances of it going away are almost guaranteed if you can get healthy! But in some circumstances a person might just be stuck with it.

I hope this Article has been helpful take care and God Bless!
