I saw the band LMFAO on the television show "So, You Think You Can Dance?," and I thought there song was a lot of fun. I like to have fun sometimes, so I sought out LMFAO's album "Sorry For Party Rocking" to see if it could make me boogie in my computer chair, headphones on, Mountain Dew in hand. You can read my song by song notes below, but "Sorry For Party Rocking" more-or-less blazes out of the gates in a dance frenzy, but runs out of fuel before the end and goes to bed. It was the deluxe version of "Sorry For Party Rocking" that was in my headphones.
"Rock The Beat II": It's just an intro trying to be funny, gibbilty-goop meets Star Wars, meets some Eye of the Tiger? Sounds like they want to give Black Eyed Peas a run for their money.
"Sorry For Party Rocking": Setting the pace at fast dance party, infectiously so. Grab your glow sticks and get your booty ready for a work out. Lyrically they express their enjoyment of "party rocking" regardless of neighbors think, though they do apologize for enjoying fun so much, but nothing they can do about it, is what it is, rock on, woot.
"Party Rock Anthem": So, what kind of music do you party rock too? Apparently this, which is the single I have heard them performing on a couple of television shows. The song has a fun beat and flow and then cuts into fast boogie dance bits that are even more fun. Lyrically you're just getting more smooth party rock embracing fare, with a chorus that really sounds a lot like the Black Eyed Peas, but tight competition and not generic knock off.
"Sexy And I Know It": Electro funk drum beat dance pop rap with no shortage of vanity. Well, the lyrical content IS kind of short, so maybe it is a brief blast of vanity, lots of dance music. "When I'm at the beach I'm in a speedo trying to tan my cheeks." Grin and do the wiggle.
"Champagne Showers": High squelch chipmunk voices and deep evil devil techno voices, this is another dance floor ready anthem. You can imagine champagne spraying around, or maybe something a little more naughty. Get'em wet with some drunk and funk, neva' know what happen'. Those aren't lyrics, that's me slowly turning into a party rocking monster.
"One Day": More party music laced with some I've got all kinds of expensive stuff and "the life," but doesn't have the woman he wants at his side. His swagger comes with the confidence that he'll get her one day though. Background music, but the rave is starting to dull for me on this one. This music requires you to drink a lot of energy drinks before listening.
"Take It To The Hole": Repetitive video game sirens and old school feeling deep rap bass with thicker vocal delivery compared to all of the tracks prior to this one. Lots of basketball playing references. It is the old school feel that helps this one stand out in bass and fans of that are going to eat it up, especially when Busta Rhymes starts busting out rhymes. I was going to say this one might be in danger of being buried under the stack of dance beats on the rest of the album, but Busta Rhymes could be a difference maker for it.
"Best Night": The parts sung by Eva Simons are good, the rest is boring, and will.I.am shows up and I'm ready to hit the skip button.
"All Night Long": The steam is officially all out? They are trying to paint a deeper pop rap story in the lyrics, a little substance (not like emotional, more party with a girl stuff) and stronger imagery to go along with your beats? A rogue puzzle piece in the right box, but somebody chewed on it and it's not really going to fit how it should.
"With You": Disco rap and I think the club is getting ready to close.
"Put That A$$ To Work": Token butt appreciation track, party rocking album filler. Probably going to spawn a lot of cool remixes though.
"We Came Here To Party": Meh, this could be single worthy, or it could be ignored. A little too mellow and shallow.
"Reminds Me Of You": More party rocking, nothing new, nothing stand out, a little odd with the chorus and title of the song not really fitting the theme the lyrics themselves put forward throughout the song.
"Hot Dog": Too goofy for its own good and yet it's the good kind of goofy if you're in a goofy mood. "I'm going to get a hot dog after this club." More light disco dance sounds.
"Party Rock Anthem (remix)": Dialed down into a sleepy trance and then it gradually climbs back up into the party, but the flavor of the original version is more peppy fun and hits better in the right places.
