Here is a list of various attractions and things to do in Rome, NY.

Delta Lake State Park

There are many hiking and nature trails to explore within Delta Lake State Park. The picnic areas are set in scenic locations where you and your family can enjoy a pleasant snack together. You can also go out in a boat, or if you're into fishing, you can fish for the many types of fish by the shoreline. There are many camping sites, and the sandy beach is ideal for summer fun. If you are looking for some winter activities then there are cross-county ski trails. Camping is available from May through Columbus day. Memorial day to late June is a time when swimming from the beach is allowed only at the weekend. From late June to Labor day there is swimming from the beach seven days a week. Pets must be on a leash, and are not allowed in the bathing area.

Fort Stanwix National Monument

The monument is dedicated to the American victory at Saratoga and westward expansion through New York 's gateway to the west. You can discover what life was like in the 18th century. There is also a theater and book store in the visitors center.

Rome Sports Hall Of Fame

The racing wing of the hall of fame has Rapid Roman Richie Evans car and two of Dave Packers speed boats. This section is related to the 31 other exhibitions of the sports stars of Rome, NY. There are pictures, artifacts, sports outfits, and other memorabilia on display at this sports hall of fame.

Rome Sand Plains

The high sand dunes, low peat bogs, and hardwood forests make this a particularly interesting place to visit. The birds, butterflies, and plants that can be seen in the area make this a favorite spot for tourists. The plains take up almost 16,000 acres of the City of Rome, NY. It is favorite place for school field trips, and anyone interested in birdwatching will have a good day here.

Jervis Public Library

Built over 100 years ago this library is a fascinating and historical place of interest. The library was named after the prominent nineteenth century engineer John Bloomfield Jervis. John B. Jervis grew up in Rome (then called Fort Stanwix) in the early nineteenth century, and he left money in his will in order for the library to be built.

Rome Art And Community Center

This building is a pleasing sight to the eye, with its beautiful period architecture. There is also a lot of land around the building. The Rome Art And Community Center also has three art galleries, modern art studios, performance spaces, and a unique Art House & Café. This place aims to keep modern art and culture alive in the City of Rome.

If you live in or decide to visit Upstate New York then you will not be disappointed if you visit the above locations on your travels.

I never knew about the sand plains. Worthy to check out, Roman!

And I never knew as I drove through! Once again, the "ummm, didn't know that" factor to your artcices. But say, no Dexter Yeager museum? Just kidding. Well done; you've done Rome proud.
