Six Flag's Discovery Kingdom, in Vallejo, is offering their Fright Fest again this year with parades and fun for all ages. Fright Fest is spooky for adults and fun for the kids. This daytime activity is free with park admission of $31.99. Besides the vampires, zombies and ghosts wandering around, the kids get to see their favorite characters dressed up for Halloween, too. Make sure to visit the shows and see The Looney Toons! Fright Fest has special Halloween activities after the sun goes down, but that is for an extra fee. For park hours, and to see their full calendar, go to their site at www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/index.aspx.
A local favorite is still the Winchester Mystery House, in San Jose. They offer flashlight tours every year on Halloween. You never know what will happen, or who will visit you when you walk through the many hallways of Sarah Winchester's haunted house. The tours start at 6:30pm on October 31st and the last one is at 10:40pm. Click here for drop down menus of dates, times and pricing. Don't worry, these tours are safe for kids and they are encouraged to come. The Winchester Mystery House is open all year long, so if you can't make it on Halloween, then why not try a Friday the 13th?
Is your family into pirates? Do your kids run around trying to make the younger ones walk the plank in the backyard? Pirates of Emerson Haunted Adventure has been a Halloween staple in Fremont for the last 18 years, but has recently moved to the Pleasanton Fair Grounds in Pleasanton, CA. This haunted house is not for everyone and they boast having the scariest haunted house in California. Kids are welcome, but please use your best judgment to determine if your kids are too impressionable to enter. Everyone wears 3D glasses as they walk through this 'house'. If you have questions regarding the intensity of this event, please click here to view their Frequently Asked Questions link on their website. Happy Halloween!
