Now that the season has officially kicked off, you'll find plenty to choose from when it comes to fresh, local produce and goods. The Dallas Farmer's Market is one of the biggest and diverse markets in the country. It truly is a treat and can be enjoyed seven days a week from 8AM to 6PM. You can spend an entire day exploring the various sheds and taking advantage of the free samples that vendors have to offer. You'll be able to find local seasonal produce and fruits, specialty meats, organic chicken eggs, seafood, and so much more. In Shed 2, there are eateries and specialty foods like baked goods, fresh spices, and a coffee shop. This farmers market is truly a treasure in the heart of Dallas.

The White Rock Local Market is hosted by the Green Spot, a gas station that offers bio-fuels and organic foods. It's a great collaboration that brings green ideas, healthier living, and local farmers and their products to the public. The market takes place from 8AM to 1PM every second and fourth Saturday from March until December. Some of the local vendors offer organic and natural produce, artisan breads, handmade pasta, and vegan baked goods. You can also find one of a kind items from local artists offering clothing, jewelry, furniture, and ceramics. They've even begun accepting EBT cards (food stamps).

Even though the Rockwall Farmer's Market is small, it's a gathering of local farmers with a big heart. It takes place every Saturday from May 7th through October 8th from 8AM to 12 noon. The McKinney Farmer's Market takes place at two locations: on Saturdays at Chestnut Square (corner of Chestnut and Anthony) and on Thursdays at Adriatica (corner of Virginia and Stonebridge), from the third week in March until the end of October .
