Local Ice Cream Shops in Florida

Located at 2517 Tamiami Trl, Punta Gorda, Baskin-Robbins might be a franchised ice cream shop, but it doesn't stop them from being completely delicious. They have pretty much anything you could want from soft-serve to cakes to shakes and their prices are reasonable (less than $5 for most menu items). I personally like the mint pistachio shakes that they make. Since they are open during regular business hours of most places, this makes a great place to stop in after going to the nearby Gilcrest Park by the harbor or after visiting the downtown Punta Gorda shopping area.

Cubby's Homemade Ice Cream

Cubby's Homemade Ice Cream is located on 264 W Marion Ave Punta Gorda which is even closer to the downtown shopping and restaurants in Punta Gorda. I have to say that this is my personal favorite out of the ice cream shops in the Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte area. They have homemade ice cream and it is really really good. At Cubby's you pay by the scoop and getting a single scoop runs about $2.50 or so (the scoops are huge, 1 scoop is plenty for most people). Another great thing about Cubby's is that it is nearby the local fish & farmers markets that are held every weekend on Saturday and Sunday in the ajoining streets. A great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday morning is to hit the market and then go cool off at Cubby's.

Dairy Queen

This DQ is located at 3311 Tamiami Trl Port Charlotte and is one of the many DQ franchised shops. One thing that makes this one different is that it is an "old-school" Dairy Queen. I love the old drive up DQ's that are shaped really weird (this one is shaped like a giant triangle) and serve that old familiar soft-serve ice cream. The prices and hours are the same as any other DQ (ranging from $1 - $5 for most ice cream and standard business hours). This DQ is conveniently located on the main strip Tamiami Trl that runs through both Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. It is near lots of things, including the Port Charlotte Golf Club, the Port Charlotte Mall, and Fish Cove Adventure Mini Golf by the Peace River.

Sprinkles

Eat outside and enjoy the sun at Sprinkles located on 18151 Murdock Circle Port Charlotte. This local sweet shop is right beside the Port Charlotte Mall which is great for those Friday nights you want to grab some ice cream and then go see a movie. Sprinkles also specializes in making custom order cupcakes that can be purchased through the store or their website. Paradise Coffee and Ice Cream

Located at 26480 Jones Loop Rd Punta Gorda this local shop has it all, and as you can guess from the name it also has coffee. Just to name a few things on the menu, they have Iced and cafe latte, smoothies, gourmet coffee, and an array of ice cream, shakes, banana splits, and sundaes. Paradise is within a few miles of Burnt Store Golf Courses, Royal Palms Memorial Gardens, and Alligator Park. This is a great place to go any day of the week to pick up a small ice cream snack or a tasty caffeine drink.
