This is an excellent choice for a relaxing vacation. It is also Handicap accessible. There are over 400 picnic tables throughout the park as well as a lake and many activities, such as Hiking, Camping,Fishing,Boating,Swimming,Picnicking and Backpacking. The picnic tables areas have charcoal grills near them and restrooms are located throughout the park.

If you like to hike, there are many trails to choose from.
For the backpacker they offer over 70 miles of loops and connecting trails for a one to five night expedition. Being the Western trail head for the Quehanna Trail system this draws people from all over the State and connects with another trail, the Susquehannock Trail System near Sinnamahoning Pa. However,they do not offer Backpack camping in the Park.

They do offer Free Camping for Campground Hosts. If you are willing to assist the Park personnel for 40 hours a week and your stay is two weeks minimum ,you could be eligible for this. Sixteen Cabins are available and sleep 4,6, or 8 people. Cabins are heated with a wall mounted Gas heater and you may also use the fireplace. They have beds,refrigerators, stove, table and chairs. you will need your own bedding and dishes. You also need to supply your own firewood. Summer time rentals are by the week and you should call well in advance to reserve one. During the off season the cabins are only two day rentals.

Swimming is opened from May to September and you swim at your own risk. It has a beautiful sandy beach and the concession stand is right next to it. Boating is permitted but only with electric motors or non powered boats.They have a concession that rents paddle boats,canoes and rowboats from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

For the fisherman, there are brook trout, largemouth bass, sunfish and brown bullhead. Trout are stocked three times a year at the lake. So the fish are usually biting!

Wildlife is abundant here and for the bird watchers you may spot a black throated green or blackburnian warbler. Among many other species. Evenings are the best for spotting deer, turkey, fox or coyote. Bobcats also roam the area as do Elk. Elk can weigh from 400 to 1000 pounds and are very majestic to watch. There is an Elk range only 40 minutes from the park. There is an Elk viewing platform in the state game lands 311 between Benezette and Grant Pa.

Winter activities here include Ice fishing, snowmobiling and Ice Skating. The Ice Skating area is monitored for safety by checking the thickness of the Ice. The lake is stocked in the winter for the Ice fisherman. The snowmobiles have a blast out here with all of the trails to choose from.

Overall this park is one of the best in the State and is absolutely beautiful any time of the year.

Some nearby services are located in Penfield, DuBois, Clearfield and St. Marys. All within 5 to 20 miles of the Park. They have all your modern conveniences such as laundromats,gas stations,restaurants, car wash and more.

    I just spent a week at Parker Dam, our second stay. It's absolutely gorgeous there! And the elk are awesome!
