Local Poetry Events Around Orlando

These are a few local Orlando attractions for those paying homage to National Poetry Month which is April. Some of the events start in March. Some of the events are on going.

Club K.O.H.A. on 426 E. Kennedy Blvd. in Orlando, Florida is having a Spoken Word Poetry session and gathering night for all poets and writers. It is held every Thursday at 9 pm and the final night is May 15th, 2009. The entrance fee is $5.00.

Portraits of American Poets by Jack R. Smith is a gallery showing of American poets at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College on 1000 Holt Ave in Orlando, Florida. The gallery is showing through April 19th, 2009. The art museum is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday Noon to 5 pm. The fee is $5.00 per person.

Stardust Video & Coffee on 1842 E. Winter Park Road in Winter Park, Florida is having a Broken Speech Poetry Slam in a "battle of the poets" style competition. Every contest, which is free, starts at 9 pm and the final night is May 28th, 2009.

Orlando Poetry Group is holding open-ended poetry sessions at the Dandelion Communitea Café. the venue is located at 618 N. Thornton Ave, Orlando, FL 32803, 407-362-1864
