Local Pumpkin Patches in San Jose, Mountain View and Los Altos, California

It is that time of the year again when the summer days are getting shorter, the leaves are turning pretty orange and red colors, and the pumpkin patches are beginning to pop up on neighborhood corners.

Local pumpkin patches are a neighborhood staple this time of the year. Almost every vacant lot has a patch full of pumpkins and kids chasing each other trying to claim the best pumpkin. Last year, I wrote an article showcasing my favorite local pumpkin patches: San Jose, Sunnyvale, Half-Moon Bay and Placerville, CA Pumpkin Patches. This year, I decided to find even more to share with you!

Grandpa's Pumpkin Patch is located in the Sears shopping center parking lot on San Antonio Road, near California Avenue, in Mountain View. This lot is there every year and seems to get even more popular the longer it is there. They have excellent decorations, some spooky and some fun. It is a simple, but great pumpkin patch for all age groups. Last year they even had a large inflatable slide for the kids. After all the pumpkins are gone, this same location will have Christmas Trees, too!

Spina Farms, located on Santa Teresa Blvd and Bailey Avenue in San Jose, is more than just a pumpkin patch. Spina Farms also offers train rides, a hayride and much more. This year they are debuting an Indian corn field. Take the whole family and spend the day celebrating the Harvest and shopping for pumpkins in their old fashioned pumpkin patch that boasts over 60 varieties of pumpkins. My friends have told great stories about this local pumpkin patch and I think I will take my little ones there to enjoy it in person. My son will enjoy the train ride around the pumpkin patch the most. What will your kids enjoy most?

Every grocery store you go to usually has the large bins of pumpkins and some hay bales for decoration. There is one fruit and veggie stand in Los Altos that stands out. It is DeMartini Orchard, located at 66 N San Antonio Rd, and they have the most unique pumpkins I have ever seen. The entire front of the shop is decorated with hundreds of pumpkins of every size, shape and color that can be grown. They even had some I had never seen before! The pumpkins are easy for even the little ones to maneuver through and select their masterpiece. The sizes range from itty bitty ones to the jumbo that will be a perfect display on your front porch. They even have pumpkins for baking, too. I drive by it every day and marvel at the beauty of these pumpkins. See you there!
