Local Restaurant Hot Spots in Midland Michigan

Kyle S.
Midland may be some small Michigan town that nobody as heard of but I have lived here all of my life and know just about everything there is to know on my town. One thing I know for sure is the local restaurants. I mean sure you have the Ponderosa's, Applebees, Damons and stuff but you can't beat local restaurants with that use family recipes and traditions even. I have lived here for over 19 years now and have visited just about every type of restaurant here including fast food, chain restaurants and the local spots and nothing is better then a local restaurant. I just want to share with you the top three best restaurants in Midland Michigan.

Shirlenes Cuisine has been around for many, many years. Back in the 1980's when my dad was only little, him and my grandpa would always eat at Shirlenes for lunch. They have anything from amazing burgers to their world famous cheesecake. A lot of families around Midland have been eating at Shirlenes for years and they definitely are one of the favorite spots around my town. It's also a favorite spot to simply come in and have a cup of coffee. They have some of the nicest employees and managers you will ever find. If you ever stop by Midland, make sure to check out Shirlenes Cuisine.

Tony's Steakhouse may have a different appearance then the other locations around the Tri-Cities but it is still one of the best places to grab your meal. The only thing that will really throw you off is that there isn't a sit down portion because it moved into an old fast food building instead. The other Tony locations around the area are usually sit down. Any local from the Tri-City area should know about their famous steak sandwiches and other fine sandwiches. You can get anything from a hot ham and cheese to a meatball sub and even pizza subs. Tony's offers steak dinners as well as burgers and other entrees that people love. Tony's in Midland is still a great place even though its just pick up only with no dining.

Muncheese may not look like your typical restaurant because it really isn't. Muncheese doesn't really offer any sit down meals per say but they do offer their very popular pizzas and subs. This is more of a local teen hotspot then a normal restaurant but either way its still just one of those places you need to try out. Their pizzas are delicious and so are their subs. You can get any types of subs you can think of like pizza subs, meatball subs are very popular and they come in 6" to 14", which is a monster! Muncheese offers other favorites like nachos, cheese sticks and more.

They do have a dining area that can seat around 10 people probably but most the time you should have no trouble eating inside because most people just order take out since Muncheese is located right in a very populated neighborhood. Muncheese may not be a typical restaurant your use to but its just one of the place you have to try. I never made much though of it other then a pizzeria but its definitely one of those "you have to try" kind of places.

Now I know some of these might not appear any types of restaurants your use to such as formal sit down and eat types of places but they are still the top voted local spots around Midland. Regardless of what you may think, they are three places you need to check out if you're ever in Midland Michigan. I have lived in Midland for 19 years now and I enjoy the chain restaurants but nothing beats what you get at your local restaurants.

My names Kyle, I live in MI and I have all my life. So far I have no intentions on leaving unless the economy here doesn't pick up soon. I enjoy sports such as NASCAR, NFL, MLB and I also love music which...  View profile

Some of these sound so cool. I love finding new restaurants. It's the food critic in me. . . Great job!
