Local Review: Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar in Wildwood, New Jersey
Authentic Affordable Mexican Food, Expensive Unique Martini's & Other Drinks
Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar offers authentic mexican food with some unique sandwiches. You aren't going to get your typical chain food here. You also aren't going to be overcharged though. One of my favorite food items to snack on is called a Machego Frito. It is Mexican cheese batter that is deep fried. It is served with a paprika aioli and lemon, but I have mine plain. This is sort of like a crispy cheese bread, and a great snack food while enjoying a few adult beverages at Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar.
If you are looking for something a little more substantial, but not a full entree then I recommend the Juan Pablo Quesadilla or Chicken Chorizo sandwich. Both of these items are just under $10 each, which is a bargain in Wildwood, New Jersey. The Juan Pablo Quesadilla has chorizo sausage, roasted mexican potatoes, chilies, cilantro, and onions. It has a serious spicy kick, but also packs in a ton of flavor as well. Keep in mind due to the chorizo sausage this can be a bit messy with some oil dripping from the quesadilla. The Chicken Choirzo sandwich has both grilled chicken and chorizo sausage. It is a great mix of chicken and the spice of the sausage. The sandwich is topped with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and the paprika aioli. These are just a couple of my favorites from the selections under $10. There is a very large selection of quesadillas, sandwiches, and tacos all in that price range.
Honestly, I don't usually go to Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar for a large dinner, instead of go to enjoy the food items below $10 and spend my money are some of the unique martinis. Yet, I have tried the Pollo Mole Poblano one time for an entree for $17 and that was quite tasty. It was chicken cooked in a sauce made of chiles, dried fruit, nuts, herbs, cinnamon, and mexican chocolate. Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar does a great job with this mexican tradition, as it is sweet and has a nice kick as well. Too many other places end up letting the sweetness overwhelm the spice, Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar does not do that.
As I mentioned, the drinks at Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar are great. There is a huge list of Margaritas, Martinis, and frozen drinks. They do tend to be expensive at close to $10 each, but for a treat one night while at the beach they are worth the cost. My favorites include the Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini and the Key Lime Martini. The Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini is made with Stoli Vanilla, Malibu, Pineapple Juice, and tequila that is infused with pineapple and cherry hints. Honestly, this really does taste like a pineapple upside down cake, which is one of my favorite desserts. The Key Lime Martini is one again made with Stoli Vanilla, has Keke Beach Liquor, and is topped with splashes of Sprite, and lemon and lime juices. For a unique twist the rim is lined with crushed graham cracker pieces.
Those are two of my favorite drinks at Juan Pablo's Margarita Bar, and I'm sure you will have your own favorites after visiting. This is a restaurant where you can easily spend more on your beverages than you do on the food. Remember though, you are on vacation so there is no need to feel guilty about it. Just remember to drink responsibly, the police in Wildwood, New Jersey are known for doing a good job of keeping the roads in town safe and catching anyone driving under the influence.
