Locating and Advertising to a Target Audience

Getting your site listed in Google at a good position takes a long time. Most of us don't have that kind of time to sit around and wait. I like to see results from my hard work quickly, and you should too! Connecting with potential customers directly is the best way to get instant results. Before we get in depth, go ahead and think about who your target audience is. Who is most likely to buy your product? Where would you most likely find these people online?

In my first article, I used a constellation ebook as my example, so I will continue with that. Nerds are most likely to buy my product. Most of them chat in forums to share experiences. With that said, I would join a few astronomy forums- maybe even a social networking with groups like Myspace or Facebook- then I'd build up a pretty good reputation. All of this could be done in one day, or could be spread out to a week. Next, place a link to your website in your signature. Search for questions in the forum about star gazing and reply with good information plus your website link. (It may be against the rules to post links, so just say "look in my sig!")

But don't just limit yourself to forums. Yahoo Answers is a great place to advertise if you do it correctly. Search for open questions about constellations or astronomy. Answer the question adequately and then advise the asker to visit your website for more information. About 90% of the people who look at the question will click your link if you provide a good answer.

Also, Youtube would be a great form of free advertising for an astrology niche. Simply posting a video of a comet or explaining some of the constellations in a home video would get tons of views. Then, with some of Youtube's free tools, create a little bubble with your website in it. Most people will type it in if it is easy enough to remember.

Although these are probably the most effective methods of direct conversation with the consumer, there are many other ways to do it, too! This is just to get your ideas flowing, so be open and creative.
