Late Wednesday, Jan. 14, Time Warner Cable of New York announced in an email that they would be broadcasting the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama at various locations around New York City. There will be free events happening all around New York City on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 at 11AM. Time Warner Cable has partnered with co-sponsors New York 1, the Parks Department of the City of New York, Times Square Alliance, and the New York State Office of General Services.

The broadcast of the Presidential Inauguration will be happening in and around Manhattan, outdoors at the following locations:

Harlem (Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office building) - 163 W. 125th St. and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard (7th Avenue).

Times Square (Father Duffy Square) - northern triangle of Times Square between 45-47th streets and Broadway and 7th Avenue.

Downtown (Foley Square) - intersections of Duane, Lafayette, Centre and Pearl streets.

These events willl be happening outdoors, rain, snow, or shine.

As an added bonus, available exclusively to Time Warner Cable customers, Time Warner will be giving away free tickets to attend the Presidential Inauguration viewing indoors as it is broadcast from the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. While the tickets are free, you do need to enter to win. Interested parties can check the following website to see if they can't get tickets whether or not they are Time Warner Cable Customers. Note, Time Warner Cable is NOT offering tickets to the live event in Washington DC.

This years is going to be a very exciting Presidential Inauguration and a very exciting time in American politics. Barack Obama has captivated the nation with his inspired rhetoric, positive attitude, and bright outlook for better days ahead. Time Warner Cable and NY 1 News are typically around the center of events like this in New York City so the fact that they announced this in conjunction today was not much of a surprise.

There are other events happening in private quarters all over the five boroughs and around the nation as well. Undoubtedly a number of key political figures will be on hand in person in Washington DC to see the event for themselves. However there have been announced a number of events; the most recent being these from Time Warner Cable and NY 1 News.

Guests who are visiting the City and are anticipating just showing up to one of these free events presented by Time Warner Cable would be wise to allot extra time for their trip from wherever they are coming. Undoubtedly there is going to be heightened security, lengthy delays and more as yet unforeseen obstacles that go along with the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama so visitors should be prepared.
