Once I say something
I can not open my mouth
and return the words.
The damage is done
once it's been said
and once it's been heard.
So I remain quiet
unless it's something
that I feel strongly about
This way I don't live
second guessing myself
and always in doubt
But that does not mean
I can not feel the sharpness
of your lines
I may often clench my jaws
But my ears are working fine.
I can not open my mouth
and return the words.
The damage is done
once it's been said
and once it's been heard.
So I remain quiet
unless it's something
that I feel strongly about
This way I don't live
second guessing myself
and always in doubt
But that does not mean
I can not feel the sharpness
of your lines
I may often clench my jaws
But my ears are working fine.

Post a CommentSo so true Michele! I agree with that wholeheartedly.
Whoever said, "sticks and stones my break my bones but words can never hurt me" obviously wasn't on the short end of the stick of a bad remark! Great poem, cheers.
Thank you all :)

I like this, and it is definitely the way I am!
Truth be told! People need to hear this.
Excellent! I really like the way that you have expressed this.
