Lodo Hot Spots: Sing Sing Pizza and Piano in Denver, Colorado

If you like to sing rock n' roll with your air guitar in the shower, but you can't really sing, and if you like pizza and beer, then Sing Sing in the LODO (Lower Downtown) District of Denver, Colorado is your kind of place. Sing Sing is a huge, audience participation piano bar and restaurant where you can exploit your wannabe talents, accompanied by two duet pianists. It is on the order of Pat O'Brien's off the famed Bourbon Street in New Orleans, but much bigger and more adult humor mixed in with the music.

The owner's boast that Sing Sing is a unique blend of music and fun that is bawdy, gaudy, and a little bit naughty. They are right on the money with that description. The Sing Sing piano players challenge you to request a song that they do not know - but be careful, you never know what they might ask you to do - on stage. You might want to dress a little more conservative than usual, unless of course, you want to be called up on stage to show off your cleavage. As they say, "LoDo doesn't get any Lower!"

Sing Sing has a full Old Chicago Pizzeria menu complete with pizza, calzones, Sicilian Pepperoni Rolls, Buffalo wings, and nachos ($4.99-$14.99). The beer selection is a real treat with their full selection of local flavor from the Denver ChopHouse & Brewery and the Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery. If you are not a beer drinker, they also provide all the favorite cocktails on their menu. There is a $6 cover charge, but participating in the piano show is definitely required while munching on your pizza and micro brew.

The piano players at Sing Sing are some of the best I have seen across the country. They know songs from the 1950's and 1960's through today's popular tunes. My recommendation is to go prepared with a list of your favorite songs that you want to belt out. It won't matter if you want to sing country, rock 'n roll, patriotic, Irish, or any other genre of music - they can play it all! During my several visits to Sing Sing, I have never seen a request from an audience member that the piano players did not know. It is truly amazing how versatile and talented the musicians are. I don't know where they get all their talent for improv comedy, but they are experts in that area as well.

Sing Sing is the perfect place to host birthday parties, showers, anniversaries, bachelor parties, or any other life changing events. The owner's invite you to celebrate your divorce, your career change, your promotion, your going away, your failing test grade, your passing test grade, or your graduation. The staff at Sing Sing will create a custom show and awards ceremony, special themed décor packages, and comedy team building activities. The staff offers complete AV and meeting packages and will prepare a video of your group meeting. You can select food from their menu, have a light hors d'oeuvre and buffet deli, or have a more formal meal catered in from the Denver ChopHouse or any of your favorite restaurants. Sing Sing can accommodate beverage needs with options for cash, hosted, or semi-hosted bars.

You cannot beat the creative, friendly staff at Sing Sing, that sincerely work to make your event or your night out on the town the most unique fun you will ever experience. Check it out and sing to your little heart's content! Your shower will never be the same.
