Lodosyn's Role in Treating Parkinson's Disease

Buckeye Man
Lodosyn is used with another medication called Levodopa to treat symptoms resulting from Parkinson Disease. Lodosyn's purpose is to help Levodopa reach the patient's brain. It also helps reduce some of the side effects of Levodopa, such as nausea. If Lodosyn is taken by itself, it has no effect of treating the symptoms of Parkinson Disease.

Consult Doctor Prior to Taking.
Consulting a doctor before taking Lodosyn is very important in certain situations. If the patient is planning to have a baby or if she is currently pregnant she should seek the advice of her doctor to prevent harm to yourself or her infant. Also, Lodosyn may not agree with other medication (prescription or nonprescription). Ingredients from other medicine when interacted with Lodosyn may cause an allergic reaction. If patients are taking herbal or diet supplements they should consult with a physician. Lastly if the patient suffers from problems with their lungs, kidney, hormones, or blood pressure a doctor should be consulted. Doctors should also be consulted if the patient has tried to commit suicide or are having thoughts of suicide.

Patients should also be knowledgeable of the ingredients contained in Lodosyn. If they are allergic to any of the ingredients this medicine contains it should never be taken.

How to take Lodosyn?
Lodosyn should always be taken under the guidance of a doctor. The instructions on the label on the bottle containing the medicine should be read carefully before the first dosage or before each dosage. Lotosyn is usually taken 1 hour before eating (on an empty stomach) by mouth. Sometimes it is taken 2 hours after a patient has eaten. It is highly recommended that it be taken at the same time everyday. This daily routine should help the patient remember to take it continuously. In order to receive the positive effects of this medicine, it should be taken regularly. Even if the patient does not experience any pain at time of dosage, the Lotosyn should still be taken. Two dosages should never be taken at once. If a dose is missed it should be taken immediately or if it is close to the next dose wait until the appointed time. If the patient is confused about any issues relating to taking Lodosyn, he or she should consult their physician.

Side Effects.
Side effects for Lodosyn are very rare and usually occur as a result of using Levodopa. Therefore patients should research the side effects of Levodopa before consuming Lodosyn. If there are other medications being consumed with Lodosyn, patients should also research the side effects of those medications. Patients should always consult a physician if they are not clear about the side effects of medications mixed with Lodosyn.
