Loft bed systems for teens are the trend today and are an ideal way to maximize living space. The basic loft bed system is the same as the way college lofts were with an upper bunk bed with the ladder built at the foot of the bed. These are not garden variety bunk beds style lofts and can actually be as simple or complex as preferred.
For those who live enjoy living in apartment homes or who may live in the city in small quarters loft bed systems work quite well in terms of functionality, saving space, and in providing an attractive living space.
There are high end version of the loft bed system such as those offered at Pottery Barn Teens which feature a wooden loft bed with the foot of the bed being a bookcase and the ladder at the front side of the head of the bed. At the foot of the bed on the side of the bookcase is a double duty cork bulletin board that provides the perfect space for teens to put school pictures and other favorite items. Within the loft space under the bed is an additional small book storage unit and in the corner a corner desk with chair making an ideal cozy study environment. This particular unit is available in white or espresso colored wood.
Another great option is the wall bed or Murphy bed system in which the bed flips up and retreats to the wall. This is a unique set up in that what appears to be a bookcase, entertainment unit, and a closet actually hides a bed behind the closet. This is the perfect choice for the person who enjoys using the living space of the room for something other than furniture. The loft bed systems and wall bed systems are great alternatives to the traditional bedroom and a great choice for the creative person.
