Logitech Illuminated Keyboard: A Good Lighted Keyboard for Working in the Dark?

Jack Woods
As we all know by now, keyboards can make or break you. There are several different varieties of keyboards present on the Internet, that you can specially choose for your personal use. A few really nifty ones include the rolled up keyboard you saw in the movie Die Hard 4.0, and the really funky new Logitech Illuminated Keyboard that is now on sale. You should buy the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard especially if you work late into the night on your personal computer, and at home. Personally, I find that the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard was a godsend; but you can judge for yourself by reading this review.

The setup features of the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard: Neat and clean lines are one of the best features of the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard, as it uses USB connectivity, but it does not seem to have the PS/2 converter plug-ins. The basic system runs on a default setting, so no worries while setting it up. The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard also has SetPoint software installed, that gives you additional control over the software.

What about the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard design? Not that great, but really classy and understated. The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard is not a gaming keyboard, so put that thought right out of your head. It's for the hardcore worker who wants lighted keyboards for working at night. The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard has the desired amount of muted lighting that's really great for working without blinding the operator. It comes with a slim and trim design too.

Tactile sensations of the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard work very well. Even though the keyboard has been back illuminated, it's really cool to work with! You get cool key travel; more so than normal keyboards and wonderful numbers to work with. Do check out, and compare with previous keyboards to get an accurate idea of working. Another really great feature was the super-silent-silent keys with a plastic wrist rest. I didn't really like the wrist rest. Not soft enough, and not really that much of an improvement too.

The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard as been back lighted to allow you to work easily but the light settings have been managed to make them helpful, yet unobtrusive. This is a really difficult balance to maintain, and the only problem is that the corners of the boards appear to be slightly dimmer. Another feature I noticed was that only one function key was lighted up and the F1-F12 keys are only lighted up in alternate functions. Not a good idea for people who have to work with these keys!

Other tweaks for the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard other tweaks? There are other features you should know about like controls for Volume and Lighting. You can increase or decrease the light intensity in a range from 0% to as much as you wish. Although I would advise an even 50% for comfortable working at night and it also has a key for mute.

Value for the money with the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard? Pretty good, even though the board is a little bit expensive, and only limited to the work place! I would still recommend getting one though.
