Logue Lines the Floor with Laws

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
As the California State Assembly met in Sacramento, Assemblyman Dan Logue (R, Linda District), tossed 800 pages of proposed environmental regulations on the floor.

"This body has created a climate of business hostility that is second to none." Logue was referring to the State Assembly and the kind of daunting regulations that are killing business in California.

Frustrated
The 800 pages in question was a wood harvesting permit. Having thrown them to the floor in disgust, Logue asked forgiveness for tossing the papers but not for his point of view. His frustration to a breaking point showed, revealing just how far gone the California Assembly is.

Adios to business
His colleagues in the Assembly are the very ones creating the hoops businesses must jump through just to do business in California. Many businesses won't take it anymore and are leaving the state.

A mass business exodus contributes to California's economic demise, but Logue's associates in the Assembly just don't see it. Or don't care. Or both.

Brain dead?
After all, they are paid to be making prohibitive rules and regulations, even expanding state government to do so. Hey, they're just doing their jobs, right?

By the way, the 800-page business-killing bill passed, and will be sent for signature by Gov. Jerry Brown. Pass the pen and the Kool Aid.

Are sane people not allowed to run for office in California?

More jobs for business friendly Indiana. We have a businessman as our governor and it makes a huge difference. (He sold the toll road to put us in the black. It was operating at a deficit and now we have the cash and no drain on our economy. A drastic move but a good one!)

Such a shame. I really feel for you and other residents in California. My state is not good, but it is far better than what you are putting up with. rcj

You think anyone actually read all 800 pages?

An 800-page wood harvesting permit? What was a permit of any kind doing in the Assembly? And how did it become an 800-page bill that passed? Sounds as if there are some systemic problems in the California State Assembly, but that is your point, isn't it.

The 800 pages should have been burned for fuel value -- the best possible outcome. They don't get it in California and won't until it is too late for them.
