Lollapalooza Chicago 2008, Going Down in Grant Park

Some of you are thinking what is the Lollapalooza? Last year I was in your shoes with people telling me 'You don't know what the Lollapalooza is?' and, my favorite saying 'Have you been living under a rock'. So I'm going to write this for you so you so you don't get that same response when you ask what the Lollapalooza is. Let's start with this though. Don't be afraid if you can't pronounce the name it took me a long time to get it right, but it's pronounced just how to looks Lolla-pa-loo-za. Now those of you who know what this event and just want the 2008 info are probably rolling your eyes and that's ok. Here is what you want to know.

Let's start with the basics, the 2008 Lollapalooza will be held from Friday August 1 through Sunday August 3, 2008 in Grant Park Museums 500 S. Columbus Drive Chicago, IL 60604

The event is where a bunch of well known and not so well known bands get together and they play for a few day. Kind of like Woodstock (but better) without all the bad reputation that goes with that event. The lineup includes the following bands,

Radiohead, Bloc Party, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West, Gnarls Barkley, Wilco, Broken Social Scene, The Raconteurs, Flogging Molly, Mates of State, CSS, Cansel de Ser Sexy, The Black Keys, Gogol Bordello, Louis XIV, Blues Traveler, G. Love & Special Sauce, The John Buter Tril, MGMT, Yeasayer, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Black Lips, Dierks Bentley, Rhymefest, Does it Offend you, Yeah?, Nicole Atkins, Noah and the Whale, Nicole Atkin & the Sea, Magic Wands, Peter DiStefano and many more.

Tickets range from $175 to $205 and that's the advanced sale prices! Now, they do have 2 different VIP tickets. The first one is the Lollapalooza lounge. This ticket offers all the creature comforts within the festival, from beer, wine and spirits, lunch and dinner buffets, mini spa treatments and air conditioning restrooms and so much more these tickets are $850 each. Next is the next VIP ticket called Lollapalooza Private Cabanas. With this pass you get your own VIP cove and platform. It comes with a bar, food, servers, and comfort stations. These tickers are for 20 people or more and are $1500 per person.

They also have a kids place to keep the little ones entertained while their parents take in the show. They have many activities from a petting zoo to makeup and hair styling, a dance floor and much more.

Now once you have experienced this event you will want a few mementoes to remember it by. They have everything from T-Shirts to tank tops, hoodies, hats and more. Don't forget their music downloads from the bands and the professional photography they will have taken at the event.

This will be the must be at event of the summer. These 3 days will be some of the most talked about so to be in the know, make sure to take pictures to share with is unlucky souls who won't be able to attend this year. Yes, by that I mean me!
