Lollipop is the first single released from the sixth album, Tha Carter III, made by Lil Wayne. It was released on March 13, 2008 digitally, then March 27, 2008, and found great success on the U.S. Billboard charts. This song features the late artist Static Major, who died just two weeks before the song was released, and was produced by Dezzle and Jim Jonsin. This song has been used on the game show Deal or No Deal and the movie 28 weeks later. Ranked as the number seven hip-hop song in 2008, this single was certified as 4x Platinum by the RIAA. It was also the number five song in a Rolling Stone's poll of Best of 2008.

There are four different versions to this song that were released. First, there is the version was released as a single, which lasts 5:11, the longest. Then, the version found on the album is 4:59 seconds. There were two songs released to the radio. The explicit radio edit lasts 4:14 seconds, while the clean radio edit lasts 4:10.

Directed by Gil Green, the music video for Lollipop was recorded at Gavin Maloof's house in Las Vegas. The video was first shown by BET on March 12, 2008. With over ten million video views, this song was the most-viewed music video in the year 2008.This song was nominated and won a Grammy for the Best Rap Song. It received this award in February of 2009.

This song found great success in the United States. Debuting at spot 85, it jumped up to ninth in the March 28th edition of the Billboard Hot 100. This was his highest ranking to date. Then, it crept up the charts until May 3, 2008, when it finally reached the top spot. It was also number one on TRL that week. This song was also the top spot for the Hot R&B/Hop-Hop Songs and the Hot Rap Tracks. It was the first rap song to be on top of these charts since 2006. It slipped from the top spot the next week, but was able to make it back to the top spot after three weeks. This song also reached as high as number two on the Pop 100 charts.

This song did not reach as much success worldwide, but did find itself on some charts. It made it into spot number ten on the Canadian Charts and third on the New Zealand Charts. These were the only top twenty international charts it hit, though. It reached thirty-second on the Australian Charts, thirty-first on the Dutch Charts, twenty-second on the German Charts, twenty-eighth on the Irish Charts, twenty-ninth on the Swedish Charts and twenty-sixth on the UK charts.
